State pays €1.5m over the odds for Dowth property
Minister of State for Heritage, Malcolm Noonan, and Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O’Brien, make plans for Ireland's next National Park at Dowth Hall demesne
The State ended up paying €11m for a country estate to create a new national park despite a valuation that said the market value of the property might be up to €1.5m lower.
The purchase of Dowth Demesne in Meath was announced by the Government last autumn, with the State the only bidder for the 550ac property.
