I am often asked, particularly by parents of a likely successor, whether they need a Green Cert or equivalent. The answer is rarely simple but generally depends on whether the successor intends to farm the land or whether they intend to lease it out.

Even where the successor intends to farm the holding themselves, the answer is still not straightforward.
