Farmers can make way more money out of an anaerobic digestor on their land than they can out of farming, according to Meath man Brugha Duffy — but the process of setting up a plant can be long, arduous and costly.

The Duleek-based beef farmer and mechanical engineer started the planning for a 40GWh anaerobic digester with his business partner in August 2022, and they have already spent “six figures”.
