Noel Aughney clearly remembers the tractor journey he took with his father in 1958 to buy the combine he still uses to cut his corn.

The tillage and beef farmer from Bagenalstown, Co Carlow, says the long journey stands out in his mind because it was a cold October evening and the Nuffield Universal TVO tractor he was travelling on didn’t have a cab.
