Can an electric car cut the mustard in rural Ireland?

This Meath farming couple loved the performance and the comfort of Volkswagen’s top-of-the-range new ID4 GTX, but the up-front cost and charging are concerns

The Shevlins just outside Drumconrath in Co Meath could be described as the Government’s ideal family when it comes to energy usage. Last year, Padraig and his wife Charlotte built a super-insulated, electrically heated and ventilated home on their farm.

The next leap the Government want families like the Shevlins to take is to invest in an electric car.
