Dairy farmer pays €560/ac as land leasing hits last year’s heights
Tillage farmers and dairy farmers are going head-to-head competing for scarce land
New to the leasing market is this 75ac farm at Cormoy, Newbliss, Co Monaghan, which is all in grass and has been well looked after
Any hope that the price of leasing land might settle back from the highs of last year were dashed last week when €560/ac was paid by a cattle man for a 13.75ac field in Co Laois.
The holding was let on a seven-year lease while a yard on the land with accommodation for 100 store cattle on was taken for the period by the same tenant for €4,500 per annum.
