There’s no blank spaces when you’re a long-distance father-of-three

I really didn’t want to write this. The last thing on Earth I wanted to do on Friday was open a new page on the screen and stare at the vast and empty expanse that is the column before I put a finger to the keyboard.
To make space for this as yet unimagined creation, I had to close about 14 pages of speckled, digital hieroglyphics representing the things I had been working on since dawn.
