Surge in numbers hits price of lesser stock but trade still strong for quality animals

Numbers continue to appear, with many marts reporting turnouts typical for this time of the year — and some of the bigger sales yards getting bigger entries last week.
Among those reporting a surge in numbers in the east was Carnew, where Saturday’s entry reached 782 plus 140 calves, while New Ross had 671 animals, on the same day.
