Robin Talbot: I’m concerned we’ll be short of winter feed – here’s what I’m doing about it

Grass growth has generally picked up, but it is still mixed. Our second-cut silage ground is growing well and looks like it could be quite a good crop.

Hopefully it will because this is our last real chance to be sure that we have enough winter feed. Because of our autumn-calving system, we won’t have the potential to take a late third cut anywhere — any grass growth at that stage will be hoovered up by the cows and calves.
