A Clare farmer-cum-biochemist has discovered an innovative method of reducing methane production and plastic use on farms, while also making baled silage easier for farmers to use.

Paul Connellan has devised a plant-based net wrapping for silage bales that is not only edible for cattle, but will also help to reduce the amount of methane they produce when it is digested.
