Factory and finisher demand raises price of heavier stock

Although most grass finishers have the majority of what they need bought and those operating a seven-month regime to avail themselves of subsidies are well finished, there was still enough demand to lift both beef and forward stock by 10c/kg last week.

Underpinning these increases was the traditional seasonal decrease in numbers, while the spell of good silage-making weather diverted some sellers away from the marts.
