Over a quarter of cattle killed in the first four months of this year came from feedlots, figures from the Department of Agriculture show.

Of 609,832 cattle killed in exporting plants in the Republic to the end of April, 154,500 (25.3pc) originated in what the Department define as “controlled finishing units” — more commonly referred to as feedlots.
