The move from Sligo to Dublin when Ed Kelly was very young “was a huge transformation. I’ve always been conscious of having one foot in a rural, romantic, folklore-obsessed world and the other in a modern, suburban-urban one. Both locations informed my thinking when it comes to making art.”

Throughout his teens he mimicked comic books and graphic novels and would “slavishly draw, sketch and mimic Alan Moore’s Watchmen and The ­Killing Joke books”.
