Celebrities walk the red carpet for the West End premiere of 'Fawlty Towers'

Avril Kinsella

Adapted for the stage by John Cleese, who co-created the original TV show with Connie Booth and remains synonymous with the role of Basil Fawlty, the show is based on three of the best-loved episodes: “The Hotel Inspectors”, “Communication Problems”, and “The Germans”.

Basil is paranoid that there’s an inspector in his midst, the bad-tempered “guest from hell”, Mrs Richards, in on his case while he tries to hide his gambling from Sybil, and he’s outrageously insensitive towards a group of German visitors while suffering the effects of a concussion.
