Will Dean: ‘I don’t like reading violence, but it’s kind of operatic the way SA Cosby writes it’

This week’s Shelf Analysis delves into themes of forbidden love, revenge and the book that made Will Dean cry

Living off-grid: Will Dean

Rick O'Shea

British author Will Dean is the award-winning writer of the Tuva Moodyson crime series set in Sweden, where he lives, as well as several standalone thrillers. The first time I met him was at the 2019 Listowel Writers’ Week, and he was a striking presence — ruggedly handsome, bearded, dressed in jeans, boots and a check lumberjack shirt. He wore the sort of muted green jacket hunters wear — full of pockets that I presumed would normally be filled with fishing lures or practical knives outside a book festival setting — that was the perfect fit for the man and where he lives.

It’s the ‘land of the midnight sun’ time where you live right now. What’s it like?
