Christos Tsiolkas lives in Melbourne and is the author of eight novels, including the international bestseller The Slap. In 2021 he won the Melbourne Prize for Literature for his body of work. His new novel The In-Between is published by Atlantic Books.
The books by your bedside? I am currently reading a terrific biography, George F Kennan: An American Life, written by John Lewis Gaddis. I’m half-way through it and totally engrossed. I’ve also got Shirley Hazzard’s Collected Stories by the bed and I am dipping in and out of her controlled, clear-headed and wise prose.
