A feature of recent property supplements has been the rising proportion of instructions on behalf of company receivers and liquidators. The properties offered range from single buildings to high-value multi-property investment portfolios, and development land is also featuring. The timing may appear curious, as markets – except office lettings – are robust.

However, it is the time lag effect and fallout from the sustained interest rate increases which is biting now. Debtors losing their assets will feel hard done by as their properties hit the market when the interest rate cycle turns downwards.
