THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

Enviably positioned, the hotel sits on the lively waterfront at the heart of the creative quarter. It's a great base for exploring Bristol's shops, restaurants, museums and art galleries, as well as Brunel's SS Great Britain and popular destinations including Bath, just a 35-minute drive away. M Shed Museum is a five-minute walk, and minutes later you're at Wapping Wharf with its hip food and drink outlets.

By car: The drive is 3 hours from London and 1 hour 50 minutes from Birmingham. There is paid public parking nearby.

By train: Bristol Temple Meads station is 15 minutes' walk away, with direct trains from London that take 1 hour 30 mins. Book trains to Bristol Temple Meads.

THE LOOK AND FEEL

The distinctive building is recognised by RIBA as a prime example of the modern architectural movement. Internally, chic, airy spaces are decorated with modern lines, pops of vibrant colour and contemporary furniture. Public areas are elegant yet relaxing - The River Lounge is the perfect spot to watch the world go by.

THE FACILITIES

Service is friendly and efficient but not overbearing. Nothing is too much trouble - staff were happy to chill some wine we had bought with us. Facilities include a fitness centre, cocktail bar, afternoon tea, free Wi-Fi, meetings and events centre, 24-hour room service and secure car parking for overnight guests (additional charge).
