Players (2024)
Predicable but still touching
It's a simple story. Lines are well written. Player is the movie for adults who are aware of what love is. We all young once. We had our crashes and fantasies. But life tells us what it is. Everyone is different. You lucky to find your kind. The ones you love to spend time with. The ones you can feel free and be truly yourself. Unfortunately most of the time we take it as granted. But as an audience, we can see the truth. We feel the hype. We can tell the chemistry. That's why the story is predictable. Even though, when the confession came, it still touches your heart because you knew, that ending is truly precious and not everyone is lucky enough to have it in their lives. Good movie for a lazy afternoon. Enjoy your life and appreciate your surroundings.
Shortcomings (2023)
I love this movie!
Ok. I overrated it. It's not that something worth a 10/10. But I really enjoyed watching it. It reminds me when I'm young. When I don't know how to appreciate what I have. Keep chasing the feelings like trophy collection. Obsessed with one relationship. Biased. Sometimes frustrated. All of these are actually called growing up. It's a period of time, while you learn how to fight, how to let go and move on. Learn how to live with it en enjoy the moment. Learn how to appreciate and respect. Park, I think I got what you trying to say.
There are several times in the movie people used the term of "what age is he living in". I think that was a key of explaining some times we are deeply impacted by the ideals that we were educated or lectured during our childhood. One day when you wake up and start to think and selectively review these things we were taught, that's called maturity.
That's what this movie made me think of. Kinda deep. Again, I really enjoyed it.
Stephen Curry: Underrated (2023)
Stories weren't tell
There are so much more materials that they have missed. The "0", the "no one wants to see us next year". "Ayesha Curry can cook". These kids are shooting half court three pointers nowadays. The movie missed all of these. Not to mention that guys like me, 43 years old man, come back to watch NBA just because of him. (I stopped watching NBA in my early twenties).
I thought I would have known all the stories about him, but still saw some new clips while watching this documentary. It satisfies me. What surprised me was somehow they managed to mix the clips between 2008 and 2023 in the end, plus the music, that was a win for a documentary. Good job on that.
Overall it's a fine documentary to watch as a Curry fan. I'm expecting more, but I'm satisfied. Looking forward anther one after his retirement.
