Tom Taylor appears in this episode as Cregan Stark. Although not from Yorkshire himself, Taylor uses a Yorkshire accent. The accent was originally established as the accent of the Northmen because of actor Sean Bean's native Yorkshire accent. Bean starred as Eddard Stark in the first season of Game of Thrones (2011).
Presumably to emphasize her grieving the loss of her son, Rhaenyra speaks only one line in the entire episode.
Blood and Cheese were changed noticeably from what happens in "Fire & Blood." In the book, Alicent is also present for the murder, and the children are all awake. Blood and Cheese make Halaena choose which of her two sons to kill. Halaena bargains with her own life, but is denied, and finally chooses her younger son Maelor (who does not exist in the show) to be killed; Blood instead decapitates Jaehaerys. Creator Ryan Condal stated the scene was significantly toned down due to restrictions filming with child actors.
In the books, Daemon is at Harenhall when he hears of Luke's death. He sends a letter to Rhaenyra that says, "An eye for an eye, a son for a son. Luke will be avenged."
First episode in the series to be directed by Alan Taylor, who previously directed seven episodes of the original 'Game of Thrones' series.
