Zack Snyder May Just Have Left These Clues That Connect His Rebel Moon Franchise to Army of the Dead
Zack Snyder is unarguably one of the biggest masterminds in the entertainment industry, having helmed masterpieces like the Snyder cut of the Justice League. Not only does he beat everyone’s expectations with his out-of-the-world storylines, but he also sometimes leaves behind clues in his universes, which end up connecting them irrespective of how different their storylines may be.

That being said, his Army of the Dead and Rebel Moon sagas were no exception to this fact. In fact, as it turns out through a new set of threads shared by a fan pointing out the similarities between the two universes, Snyder just may have left these clues behind for fans to figure out just how perfectly his AotD and Rm worlds collide and connect. And fans? Well, they’re as baffled as ever, indeed!

Zack Snyder made his name with his gruesome, much more action-y remake of George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead in 2004. The director then tried to line up an even bigger sequel called Army of the Dead for years, but there were many detours along the way, including his eventual role as the chief architect of the early Dceu. He finally returned to his long-lost zombie sequel in 2021, this time as the launching point of a whole new cinematic universe for Netflix, which also included a crime thriller prequel called Army of Thieves and even an animated series about the initial outbreak in Las Vegas.
There was also talk of a direct sequel to Army of the Dead, which left no shortage of mysteries left to answer in a part two. Were Dave Bautista’s Scott Ward and his team of mercenaries in a time loop all along? What...

“Some days you just can’t get rid of a bomb!” Zack Snyder lit the fuse of several fandoms while appearing on The Joe Rogan Experience after saying Batman is “irrelevant” if he can’t kill, and more people saw Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire on Netflix than Greta Gerwig’s billion-dollar cinematic sensation, Barbie, in theaters. During his chin-wag with Rogan, Snyder expressed his gratitude for partnering with Netflix for several projects, including Army of the Dead, Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire, and upcoming features like Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, Planet of the Dead, and Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver.
According to Zack Snyder, he’s done the math and believes more people streamed the first chapter of his Rebel Moon saga on Netflix than Gerwig’s $1.4 billion grossing pink-coded box office blockbuster. Math was never my strong subject in school,...

Zack Snyder's sci-fi film "Rebel Moon: Part One -- A Child of Fire" -- to cite its full title -- is due for release on December 15, 2023, and, like all of Snyder's films, promises to be visually complex and cinematically overblown. Snyder loves a certain kind of hazy photography as well as bold, brassy characters, usually living within an action-packed milieu that allows them to deliver profound-sounding platitudes in bedroom-voiced monologues while slashing people open in slow-motion. "Rebel Moon" will be a sci-fi riff on the "Seven Samurai" story, with a distant-future agrarian moon standing in for a beleaguered 16th-century Japanese village, and an encroaching Empire-like army standing in for Kurosawa's itinerant bandits. Sofia Boutella will play a character who travels the galaxy to gather up a ragtag group of failed warriors to protect her moon from almost-assured destruction.

For a while, Zack Snyder was building a cinematic universe for the Netflix streaming service that centered on his zombie movie Army of the Dead. The film was quickly followed by a prequel called Army of Thieves, a sequel was being written, and an anime series called Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas was in the works. But Snyder has since shifted his focus over to building a multi-media universe around his upcoming Netflix sci-fi film Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire (and its follow-up Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver). So Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas sits unfinished… and during an interview with Total Film magazine, Snyder revealed that Army of the Dead and Rebel Moon aren’t entirely separate. In fact, if Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas ever gets completed, we’ll be seeing a Rebel Moon crossover on the show!

Zack Snyder’s 2021 zombie movie Army of the Dead was supposed to spawn an animated series titled “Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas,” you may recall, but it’s been a while since we’ve heard a peep about that project. In a new interview with Total Film that went up today, Snyder suggests that the planned animated series is no longer moving forward at Netflix.
Additionally, Snyder tells Total Film that “Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas” would’ve revealed that the franchise takes place in the same universe as Snyder’s upcoming Rebel Moon.
“Army of the Dead has a pretty vast mythology that never made it into the movie,” Snyder explains. “There’s actually a character from Rebel Moon in the Army of the Dead animated series that we never did.”

A few years ago, Zack Snyder started building the Army of the Dead franchise at the Netflix streaming service. His zombie movie Army of the Dead was quickly followed by a prequel called Army of Thieves. An animated series called Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas was in the works, and Snyder himself was expected to direct the Army of the Dead sequel Planet of the Dead. He was developing the Planet of the Dead script with Shay Hatten, who co-wrote the first film with him… But we haven’t heard anything more about that project in a while, because Snyder has shifted his focus to building another franchise at Netflix. The sci-fi franchise Rebel Moon. Now, in an interview with The Nerd Queens (as reported by Collider), Snyder has confirmed that Planet of the Dead will have to wait until after they know exactly where the Rebel Moon franchise is going.

The popular children’s show is gearing up to release its eighth season, and Snyder is on board to help the teenage superheroes celebrate a significant milestone.

Nathan Drake himself will be the voice of the audio book for Sony’s upcoming “Uncharted” movie.
Nolan North, who voiced Drake in the massively popular PlayStation video game series, will narrate the official novelization of the film, Variety can exclusively report. North, a prolific voice and TV actor, will provide the voice for every character that appears in the films, including Tom Holland’s younger version of Drake.

The “Uncharted” games are some of the most popular for Sony’s PlayStation consoles, and they’ve gone on to sell more than 40 million copies worldwide.

‘Army of Thieves’: Ludwig Dieter Is Hired for a Heist in First Teaser for ‘Army of the Dead’ Prequel
Before the zombified events of Zack Snyder’s “Army of the Dead,” there was an “Army of Thieves,” led by the mysterious Gwendoline (Nathalie Emmanuel) and safecracking genius Ludwig Dieter (Matthias Schweighöfer).
In the first teaser for the prequel film, also directed by Schweighöfer, viewers are introduced to the crew of opportunistic bandits, including Rolph (Guz Khan), Korina (Ruby O. Fee) and Delacroix (Jonathan Cohen). “Ludwig Dieter,” Gwendoline says at the teaser’s beginning. “We’ve been watching you, and we want to recruit you.”
Revealed at Comic-Con, the teaser features safecracking, shooting, boating, fighting — and even a kiss — promising a whole new world of shenanigans in the “Army of the Dead” universe. Though the film does not have a release date yet, it has been touted as coming to Netflix sometime in 2021.

Netflix and Zack Snyder have seemingly developed a solid working relationship following the successful release “Army of The Dead.” The streamer has already touted the success metrics of the Snyder zombie movie (it’s apparently one of their biggest movies), and Snyder’s already produced a prequel with “Army of Thieves” and another prequel project, the animated “Army of The Dead: Lost Vegas,” which is expected to premiere spring 2022.

Zack Snyder and his production company The Stone Quarry, which he runs with his producing partner and wife Deborah Snyder and executive Wesley Coller, have signed a first-look film deal with Netflix.
The first feature The Stone Quarry will make under the deal with Netflix will be “Rebel Moon,” a previously announced science-fiction adventure film that Snyder will direct.
The news comes after Netflix revealed that Snyder’s most recent film “Army of the Dead” was watched by 75 million member households in its first 28 days, making it one of Netflix’s top 10 most watched original films. Stone Quarry also has an anime spinoff from “Army of the Dead” with Netflix called “Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas” and a German-language prequel called “Army of Thieves.”

It kind of feels that since he’s no longer filming for DC, at least for now, that Zack Snyder is getting ambitious since he’s starting to break out projects that he’s been sitting on for a while, and while Army of the Dead 2 is a very anticipated movie by Snyder and many fans, it’s likely that it might have to wait a bit. There are spinoffs and a prequel titled Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, that will explore the earliest days of the breakout, and will feature a stellar cast that will bring the project to life. But

Exclusive: Netflix has another feature hit on its hands in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead which is on its way to becoming one of the streamer’s top 10 most watched movies, bound to notch 72M viewing households in its first four weeks.
Army of the Dead, which repped the streamer’s widest theatrical release in 600 theaters prior to its drop on the service last Friday, May 21, ties with George Clooney’s The Midnight Sky as the 9th most watched feature on Netflix. The zombie ensemble movie was No. 1 overall in 70+ countries and the top film in 90+ countries.
One has to give credit to Netflix: At a time when streamers including Disney+, Hulu, Amazon, and HBO Max are shielding their viewership figures, the Reed Hastings and Ted Sarandos led entertainment company, and Scott Stuber led film studio, is actually disclosing results on the success of its movies and TV series.

If you pay close attention while watching Netflix's Army of the Dead, you might notice something strange about some of the zombies: they've got odd, glowing blue eyes. So what's the deal with these unusual creatures? According to the movie's creative team, they're actually hinting at a layer of the story that the movie barely touches on.
The most obvious hint comes during a battle scene, when Guzman (Raúl Castillo) shoots a zombie as the team tries to escape the casino. When the zombie collapses, part of its face comes off, revealing a metal skull and a glowing, blue, electronic eye instead of the expected carnage. Yep - we've got robot zombies! There's also a moment, during a crowd scene at Olympus, where a few of the zombies in the crowd also appear to have the same glowing blue eyes, indicating that they, too, are robots, not real zombies.

This Army of the Dead article contains spoilers.
Zack Snyder’s return to the zombie genre that made him an A-list blockbuster director back in 2004 is as outrageous as you’d expect. While Army of the Dead‘s “heist inside a zombie quarantine zone” flick is actually a pretty straightforward affair in terms of the plot, there are quite a few things Snyder does with his undead baddies that have never really been done on-screen before.
Some things are more overt than others, such as the smart “alpha” zombies that can have sex and reproduce, which means they no longer have to bite human victims to grow their numbers. They can simply make more zombies the old-fashioned way to build out their “kingdom.” Add the fact that alphas can also ride horses, put on armor, carry weapons, and even communicate with each other, and you’ve got a pretty unique...

What’s Next for ‘Army of the Dead’: ‘Italian Job’-Esque Prequel, an Anime Series, and Maybe a Sequel

When filmmaker Zack Snyder and his producer (and wife) Deborah Snyder took their original zombie movie “Army of the Dead” to Netflix, the streaming giant offered them plenty that other studios balked at: a guaranteed, multi-pronged new franchise. As Deborah Snyder explained to IndieWire earlier this month, “I don’t think would have been made had it not been for Netflix. Everyone has to make these safe choices and I feel with the streaming services, they’re a little bit more bold and brash, and I think that’s really good for filmmakers.”
When Netflix signed on to the Snyders’ new project, they also greenlit a pair of prequels, including a film and an anime series, right out of the gate. The film prequel, “Army of Thieves,” was filmed during the pandemic and will hit Netflix later this year. “Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas,...

Many movies arrive with dreams of a franchise, but “Army of the Dead” lands on Netflix with one already intact: Zack Snyder’s stylish and gory zombie action-thriller hits the streamer with two prequels already in the queue, 2022 anime series “Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas” and a standalone feature, “Army of Thieves,” based around Mattias Schweighöfer’s kooky safecracking character that’s already finished and coming out later this year.
“Army of the Dead” covers a lot of plot in its staggering credits sequence, when the walking corpses are battled and trapped in Sin City by a team of mercenaries. It’s clear that Snyder envisioned quite the complex timeline leading up to the gory heist at the center of his movie. But for all the intrigue surrounding where these undead came from and what happened earlier in the timeline, “Army of the Dead...

Zack Snyder’s new apocalyptic epic “Army of the Dead” almost didn’t happen.
“Quite frankly, this movie wouldn’t have gotten made had it not been for Netflix because it sat at Warner Bros. for years and years,” producer Deborah Snyder said in a panel discussion on Friday.
When asked why, Deborah Snyder said the film “couldn’t be figured out” due to budgetary reasons and “maybe not as much of an appetite.”
But, when Netflix came along, it was full speed ahead. “I’ll tell you that Netflix has been really cool,” director Zack Snyder said. “They came to me, like, we’re happy to make this movie for your TV.”
The movie hits the streamer on May 21 and opened in theaters yesterday. To celebrate the film, the newly renovated Landmark Westwood Theatre held a Q&a on May 14 in Los Angeles, Calif. moderated by film critic Pete Hammond.

When Zack Snyder departed his Warner Bros. tentpole “Justice League” in 2017, it spelled the end of the filmmaker’s long run with the studio. Even though he resurrected his vision with “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” on Warner Media’s HBO Max, after seven films with the studio, he and his wife, creative partner, and producer Deborah Snyder opted to bring their next film to Netflix.
They’d long hoped to make “Army of the Dead,” an ambitious zombie heist film, at Warners, but Deborah said they have no regrets in creating this new partnership. When Netflix stepped in to make the film in 2019, it offered a big budget, a greenlight for two more franchise entries, and the kind of creative freedom not often on offer in a world gone mad for existing IP. And then there was the data.
“I got absolutely no information from HBO Max or Warner Bros.

An unprecedented time. An unprecedented opportunity. An army of persuasive fans.
And one very colorful, newly-shot scene.
After four years, director Zack Snyder returns to the Dceu to complete his vision.
It’s a new era. Superman (Henry Cavill) is dead and a new villain channeling a very old evil has arrived. Honoring Superman’s sacrifice, Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) must not only work together, but also unite an unlikely group of heroes – Cyborg (Ray Fisher), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), and The Flash (Ezra Miller) — to fight Steppenwolf, an eight-foot-tall warrior from the nightmare world of Apokolips who wants to conquer not only the Earth’s population but the planet’s entire existence.
