An original Y-wing filming miniature from 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope and Leia’s bikini from Return Of The Jedi are up for auction this month.
Assuming your bank balance can take the strain, you could own a piece of Star Wars history later this month. Heritage Auctions is holding an entertainment-themed sale in late July, with the lots including a Y-wing Starfighter miniature from Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope and the bikini costume worn by Carrie Fisher in Return Of The Jedi.
The Y-wing is one of two models made for the original Star Wars; designed to be used in close-up shots, it was built for the film’s shoot in 1976 at Ilm and based on designs by artists Collin Cantwell and Ralph McQuarrie. The Y-wing up for auction has a starting bid of $300,000, though its sale price is likely to be much higher; an...

Hollywood producer Jon Landau has died at age 63. Landau is renowned for his collaborations with director James Cameron on Titanic, Avatar, and Avatar: The Way of Water, three of the five highest-grossing movies of all time. He and Cameron also shared a 1998 Best Picture Oscar for Titanic. Landau died on Friday, July 5, after a 16-month fight against cancer, according to Deadline. After getting his start in Hollywood as a production manager on films like F/X and Manhunter, Landau became a producer, working on films like Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and Dick Tracy. He then became a 20th Century Fox executive vice president at age 29 and oversaw films like Home Alone, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Speed. The Big Bang Theory has significantly contributed to the careers of the huge star cast that worked in it. Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, and the others earned massive numbers and even rose to insane fame after the show. However, another popular child actor could also have become a major name in TV industry, had he not rejected the CBS show- Macaulay Culkin.

The actor, who has been a household name after his work in the first two Home Alone films, was also offered a role in The Big Bang Theory. According to Macaulay Culkin, the first pitch was so weird that he was convinced to reject it not once, but thrice. But interestingly, Culkin does not feel sorry to pass on the role.

Typically, when a star has a new movie coming out, they promote it as much as possible. But Whoopi Goldberg once did the exact opposite, taking legal action to prevent one of her movies from ever reaching theaters. And somehow it wasn’t the movie where she solves crimes with the help of a talking dinosaur.
Back in 1988, Goldberg starred in The Telephone, an experimental dramedy about an out-of-work actress who spends most of her time holed up in a small apartment making phone calls. It’s kind of like an avant-garde theater piece (specifically Jean Cocteau’s The Human Voice) crossed with a Bob Newhart routine — but not as good as that makes it sound.
Weirdly enough, The Telephone was the only film ever directed by actor Rip Torn, of The Larry Sanders Show, Men in Black and drunkenly breaking into a bank that one time fame. And it...

Few stars have shone as bright as Elvis Presley did in the realm of music, and Marlon Brando in the world of Hollywood. Still enjoying widespread acclaim despite their legacy riddled with controversies, Presley and Brando remain beloved parts of popular culture and discourse today. Tying them together is their relationship with American actress Rita Moreno.

Things have definitely developed since the first two episodes of this Apple TV+ series, and while the shift in tone was a successful approach, the same can't be said of the women caught in the throws of a town that dislikes and distrusts them while two bumbling thugs search for them.
In Land of Women Season 1 Episode 3, we got to see the trio of women finally settle down in some sense of the word.
In doing so, the tone and pace of the show shifted in a way that allows viewers to experience the same level of peace of mind as the characters.
Granted, they are far from out of the woods, but at least now they have an actual plan and aren't just running around a foreign town in designer heels and a bag filled with fifty thousand dollars.

Following the massive success of Home Alone, legendary writer-director John Hughes churned out more than a few half-baked scripts for family movies in which low-level criminals are brutalized by small children and/or adorable dogs. There was Dennis the Menace, Beethoven, heck, even the live-action version of 101 Dalmatians updated the classic story to include shabby crooks getting electrocuted in the balls.
But perhaps the wildest example of this trend is Baby’s Day Out, the 1994 comedy in which Joe Mantegna tries to kidnap an infant, with near-fatal results.
Unlike Home Alone, Baby’s Day Out wasn’t exactly a big hit. The film, which came out 30 years ago this week, made just over $16 million at the domestic box office, but cost $48 million to make. This was seemingly due to its cutting-edge animatronics. Had the filmmakers simply opted to imperil a real baby atop a skyscraper, it probably would have been a whole lot cheaper.

There are two types of mystery TV shows and movie fans. Some want them to be as realistic, dark and gritty as possible, while others prefer a more lighthearted approach to the genre. While all the cases are still just as twisted and horrific, such stories add a dash of humor to their protagonists and keep things interesting without being too depressing.
If you find yourself in the second group, Netflix already has the perfect movie in the works for you. The adaptation of Richard Osman's The Thursday Murder Club already sounds like the next big hit in the making.

Back in 2020, it was announced that Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again director Ol Parker would be following that film up by taking the helm of The Thursday Murder Club, an adaptation of the debut novel by Richard Osman (creator and co-presenter of the BBC quiz show Pointless), for Amblin. Given that Parker’s involvement was announced just days before the pandemic lockdowns, it’s not surprising to hear that iteration of the project didn’t hold together… but The Thursday Murder Club is still moving forward. A couple months ago, word came out that Pierce Brosnan (GoldenEye), Helen Mirren (The Queen), and Ben Kingsley (Iron Man 3) were being eyed for lead roles in the film, which is now coming our way from Home Alone and Harry Potter director Chris Columbus. Now Deadline confirms that Brosnan, Mirren, and Kingsley are on board to star in the film alongside Celia Imrie...

Kieran Culkin and Jesse Eisenberg talked, quipped, traded barbs and compliments and debated process in an hourlong wacky Tribeca Festival conversation tonight, having clearly bonded over A Real Pain. They star as mismatched cousins on a fraught road trip in the buzzy Sundance comedy set for fall release.
Eisenberg (Fleishman Is In Trouble) wrote and directed the film and said he’d never seen Culkin’s work before casting him. Or nothing recent. He acknowledged he’d seen Home Alone 17 times. The 1990 film was Culkin’s first feature. He played a small part alongside his brother, Macaulay Culkin. “I had no idea what the f–king movie was about” at the time, Culkin reminisced.
“You’re a magical person in my mind, because I don’t think I’ve ever really seen you in almost anything. And then, when I thought about you in the movie, I purposefully didn’t watch anything.

There’s something about an isolated horror flick that just makes you feel at home. Kick your shoes off, relax, and make a snack because we’re not going anywhere. Yes, there is a huge man outside wearing a giant parka who wants to beat your face with a tire iron but hey we’re home for the night. Settle in!
Today, we’re talking about 2012’s Atm which features two guys and a girl trapped in an Atm kiosk booth in the middle of the night as the aforementioned killer wearing an Urban Legends parka stalks them. In the movie, Brian (David Hargrove) has a huge crush on Emily (Alice Eve) and finally works up the nerve to ask her out at a company party on her last day. Home Alone Star Recalls One "Wild" Night with Donald Trump After Shooting Sequel - Main Image
Home Alone 2 star shares the "wild" night he had with Donald Trump, the former US President, after filming.
The Home Alone franchise will always be that classic '90s comedy flick that sparks nostalgia on Christmas day. However, what makes it stand out from the rest is because of one particular cameo from Donald Trump in the sequel.
Before we get into that though, here's how Trump made it into Home Alone 2.
Explaining That Donald Trump Cameo in Home Alone 2
When Kevin McCallister (played by Macaulay Culkin) was asking for directions to go into The Plaza Hotel in the sequel, he ran into Donald Trump, who owned the establishment in real life at the time.
While that would have explained the cameo, helmer Chris Columbus said it wasn't that simple.

For two seasons, “Girls5eva” fans got little pieces here and there about the upbringing of resident ridiculous diva Wickie Roy née Lesley Wiggens (Renée Elise Goldsberry). But in Season 3, they were fed a whole meal. “It’s every actor’s dream to have a backstory,” Goldsberry tells Gold Derby (watch the exclusive video interview above). “When they’re casting your parents or your love interest, it feels like it’s a good investment in a character. And this one felt so perfect. Because she has a documentary. She’s trying to make a documentary and it felt like at some point, whether it was the real backstory or whether it was some dramatic over-telling of her life, it was going to be worth it. And we got both.”

The iconic house from original Home Alone movie is for sale.
Located outside Chicago in Winnetka, Illinois, the house and its famous features have been listed for a whopping $5.25 million (a few million more than the other houses on the block). But if you’re a fan, you’ll certainly get what you paid for — not only have elements like the front stairway and outer brick facing been saved, but the home has been fully renovated and expanded.
Sitting on a half-acre, the house now has a sleek white-and-gray aesthetic, and includes features like an indoor basketball court, a poker room, and a movie theater, complete with a Home Alone poster and Lego statue of Macaulay Culkin in the classic hands-on-his-cheeks pose, of course.

Hollywood actor, artist, director, and screenwriter Daniel Stern has bagged a ton of hilariously iconic roles in comedies throughout his career and has managed to land a spectacular performance in nearly every single one of them. As fans must have already understood after watching him in the Home Alone film series, he is immensely dedicated to his work to the core.

That said, this tremendous commitment once almost had him losing his life while working on his comedy-action from 1981, Honky Tonk Freeway. And, ironically enough, Stern didn’t risk his life this badly while shooting an action scene, but rather, this happened while he was shooting a simple scene, for he accidentally consumed real drugs on set instead of using substitutes!

Macaulay Culkin, the actor who reached extraordinary heights of fame and success with his tremendous portrayal of the genius Kevin McCallister in his version of the Home Alone saga, actually shared a rather peculiar relationship with Michael Jackson in the eyes of the public. That being said, most fans may not know that this friendship actually started with a phone call.

As Culkin himself admitted it, the pair probably wouldn’t have shared the kind of close relationship they did had it not been for one “weird, random” call that the child actor received from the now-deceased King of Pop. And, although this may sound similar to the rumors surrounding Jackson’s alleged abuse of youngsters, that’s hardly the case, and Culkin stands as a witness to this claim.

The home at 671 North Lincoln Avenue in Winnetka, Illinois, is iconic for one major reason: it’s where the 1990 holiday classic “Home Alone” was filmed. The 9,126 square foot house recently hit the market for a cool $5.25 million and has been “reimagined for modern-day luxury.”
The Zillow listing noted that the current homeowners, who bought the house in 2012, “took the utmost care in maintaining the architectural detail and integrity of the home’s most memorable and recognizable spaces.” As such, the foyer and entry staircase, both of which were featured heavily in the movie, have been “largely unchanged in form and structure.” Since most interior shots for the movie were actually shot at New Trier Township High School, the rest of the home is hardly recognizable to fans of the film.

For the second time in just under six months, a key piece of the Home Alone film franchise is on the market.
On Friday, the iconic Home Alone house from the first film hit the market. The Winnetka, Illinois home carries a $5.25 million price tag.
Last December, the lux townhouse featured in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York went on sale for a mere $6.7 million. That home is located on Manhattan’s ritzy Upper West Side at 51 West 95th Street, between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue.
The Winnetka home was fully renovated and expanded in 2018. But the owners kept the front of the stately brick crib exactly the same as depicted in the 1990 film, which starred Macaulay Culkin, Catherine O’Hara, Joe Pesci, and Daniel Stern.
The five-bedroom, six-bathroom house also has a movie theater and a sports court boasting a true 3-point line.

Turning into a cultural phenomenon following its release in 1990, the Home Alone franchise thereafter became the universal theme for the holiday season. Further, appearing in memes and other forms of media, the franchise became a huge box-office success. And certainly, the credit goes to its iconic cast, including Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, and Daniel Stern.

Celia Imrie completes the main cast of the film adaptation of Richard Osman’s The Thursday Murder Club. More here.
One wonders quite when Richard Osman found the time to write a bestselling cosy crime series in between being the resident expert on Pointless (with a laptop that it turns out was never actually switched on) and the chairman of House Of Games.
However, The Thursday Murder Club quickly became a literary phenomenon, with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment snapping up the rights before it has even been published, and it stayed atop the bestseller charts for months following its release.

Writing on Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island in 2010, Anthony Lane whipped a quote from Umberto Eco: “Two cliches make us laugh but a hundred clichés move us, because we sense dimly that the clichés are talking among themselves, celebrating a reunion.” Eco’s words resonate even stronger in Christmas Eve at Miller’s Point, a fascinating simulacrum of festive movies in which references to annual favorites are thrust together with about as much delicacy as the family it tenderly depicts. The island isn’t Shutter but Long, specifically a small town in Suffolk County where we meet four generations of the Bolsanos, a blue-collar family going through the motions and rituals of their annual get-together, adoring and enduring each other as best they can in what might be their last year in the family home. The filmmaker behind this delicate, strange, reflective bauble is Tyler Taormina, co-founder of the...

Even their fans knew that sooner or later this was going to happen. Apparently, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are running out of money. There’s a new report that says the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s foundation, Archwell, can’t raise any money after the California Attorney General found that the charity is “deliquent.” Keep reading below for everything you need to know.

According to Page Six, Harry and Meghan’s Archwell foundation has been listed as delinquent by the California Ag, Rob Bonta.
That’s because the organizaiton has failed to submit its annual report and registration fees. And of course, a lot of people can’t help but raise their eyebrows over the matter.

Surreal. That’s how Misan Harriman describes his first time at the Academy Awards earlier this year. Six years before, his wife had bought him a Fujifilm X100 for his 40th birthday and encouraged him to start taking pictures with it. Then there he was, surrounded by the global industry’s most overachieving, himself an Oscar-nominated director.
He had always loved film, having been raised on ’80s and ’90s cinema like The Lost Boys, Big Trouble in Little China and Stand By Me. He describes Home Alone, of all things, as “more than entertainment for troubled kids like me,” and will share his connection to the classic movie’s study of “trauma response” and the way it, and films like it, saved him. Born in Nigeria in 1977, Harriman was the only Black kid at his British boarding school. “With my kind of neurodiversity, I’m not supposed to be good at anything,...

Orphan was released by Scream Factory on April 14th, 2024.
Murderous children is one of my favorite sub-genres of horror. Some are good, most are bad and a select few — including Orphan from 2009 — are truly great. Starting all the way back in 1956 with The Bad Seed, audiences have been captivated by the concept of children committing heinous acts of violence. Now, thanks to Scream Factory, we have one of the most shocking entries in the genre available on blu-ray with a brand-new, limited-edition slipcover.
Orphan Critique
Isabelle Fuhrman as Esther in The Orphan
Much like The Sixth Sense — and even Sleepaway Camp — Orphan is a horror film that’s primarily remembered for the twisted revelation at its conclusion; however, a movie has to be more than just its ending. Even knowing how the film ends, the rewatch-ability of Jaume Collet-Serra’s twisted tale is undeniable. The kill count is relatively low for this style of horror,...

The Christmas movie is a genre unto itself. It includes all types of films, from classics like It’s a Wonderful Life to comedies like Home Alone to actioners like Die Hard. But while any movie can pop a tree and some stockings in the frame, a memorable Christmas movie must do one thing: make the audience feel the spirit of the season, an objective clearly at the heart of Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point, which will see its Cannes world premiere in the Directors’ Fortnight program.
The third feature from director-writer Tyler Taormina (Ham on Rye), Miller’s Point employs a framing story about a multigenerational Italian family coming home for the holidays. But the film is more tone poem than plot-driven narrative, with an atmosphere of holiday nostalgia permeating every scene. A soundtrack of ’60s pop hits plays like a loop of Christmas songs, almost tricking the ear,...

Unraveling the Unique Blend of Horror in Abigail Abigail presents a fascinating twist on the classic home invasion narrative by integrating elements of dark fantasy and horror, reminiscent of the iconic Home Alone. This film directed by the innovative duo, Radio Silence, notably Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, steers away from the traditional by introducing an enrapturing vampire-themed storyline. Alongside a stellar cast including Alisha Weir and Melissa Barrera, Abigail crafts a narrative that is as thrilling as it is unique. Insights from Within the Production During production, This is an excellent opening for the 10th episode in an action

David Letterman kicked off the first of three nights of his “Gods of Comedy” interview series at Netflix Is a Joke Fest on Monday, sitting down with Nate Bargatze at the Montalbán Theatre in Hollywood.
“I have not met this man, so to nudge up against a guy who is just as good as it gets is a thrill for me,” Letterman said, prepping the crowd for the surprise guest. “In the world of comedy, some perhaps are as good. No one is better.”
Over the next 90 minutes, Letterman probed Bargatze about his Tennessee upbringing and his journey as a comic, including the time bookers for The Late Show With David Letterman rejected his audition tape to appear on the talk show in 2012.

It’s been four decades since Samantha Baker bemoaned the fact that everyone had forgotten her 16th birthday amid the chaos caused by her wacky sister’s impending nuptials. On May 4, 1984, “Sixteen Candles” was released, the success of which prompted a string of hits by filmmaker John Hughes, launched the careers of several performers and inspired the glory years of teen movies in the 1980s. Read on for more about the “Sixteen Candles” 40th anniversary.
After the success of two movies based on screenplays he had written, “Mr. Mom” and “National Lampoon’s Vacation” (1983), Hughes was given the opportunity to direct one of his scripts. Up to this point, “teen movies” had largely evolved from cautionary “rebellion” films in the 1950s to the beach party films of the 1960s to slasher films of the 1970s to sex comedies in the early 1980s. Hughes wrote a script that truly reflected the life of an average teen,...

It’s hard for anyone to hate Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man. But the movies featuring the actor would be much different if Harry Potter director, Chris Columbus, had said yes to helm the trilogy. However, Columbus had a bigger fish to fry, and we can’t blame him for passing on Spider-Man.

Harry Potter has been one of the biggest franchises in cinematic history. Not just in terms of box office numbers, but the movie series went on to become a cult hit and a pop cultural phenomenon, still with an astonishing fanbase. We are glad that Columbus joined the movie series pioneering the franchise.

45 years ago, writer/director Don Coscarelli delivered one of the best horror films ever made: Phantasm, a film which spawned three sequels that Coscarelli wrote and directed himself, then a fourth that he wrote with director David Hartman. Earlier this year, we learned that Coscarelli would be celebrating the 45th anniversary of Phantasm by expanding the franchise with a book called Phiction: Tales from the World of Phantasm, which was initially only available as a limited edition hardcover. Now paperback and Kindle editions of Phiction are available as well, and you can pick up a copy on Amazon!

Tom Felton has become an iconic figure through his work in the Harry Potter franchise. Playing a character that basically created the morally gray bad boy trope, his performance as Draco Malfoy is still influential. Delivering an excellent, yet incomplete arc, the part that he played in the eight films was significant, to say the least.

Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren and Ben Kingsley are set to star in The Thursday Murder Club, with Chris Columbus attached to write and direct.
The film is an adaptation of British TV host and producer Richard Osman’s novel of the same name. Osman confirmed the news on his podcast, The Rest is Entertainment, today. Steven Spielberg’s production house, Amblin Entertainment, is making it.
The story follows a group of geriatric friends in a retirement home who gather to solve murders for fun, but find themselves caught in a real case. Mirren will play ex-spy Elizabeth, Kingsley will play ex-psychiatrist Ibrahim and Brosnan will play former union activist Ron. Negotiations for an actress to play the fourth member of the group, Joyce, are ongoing.

Home Alone and Harry Potter director Chris Columbus is now attached to direct the film, and Variety reports that Pierce Brosnan (GoldenEye), Helen Mirren (The Queen), and Ben Kingsley (Iron Man 3) are being eyed for three of the four the lead roles!

Image created by “Shutterstock.AI” The 1984 classic Gremlins is a movie that never gets old! Steven Spielberg produced it, Joe Dante directed…and Chris Columbus who wrote Home Alone and directed first Harry Potter movie? He wrote Gremlins too! Talk about a talented crew. Zach Galligan – the main guy in Gremlins – was recently at a Gremlins Comic-Con Northeast 2024 panel, and he shared a hilarious story. When he first saw the finished movie with his co-star, Phoebe Cates, he was a little confused. He was expecting a dark, action-heavy film, but Gremlins ended up being way more zany and fun. Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan and Ben Kingsley are being eyed for three of the four lead roles in the project.
