Exclusive: Javon “Wanna” Walton has been cast as one of the four leads in Utopia, Amazon’s adaptation of the British series, written by Gone Girl author and screenwriter Gillian Flynn.
Utopia follows a group of young adults who meet online — one of them played by Walton — who are mercilessly hunted by a shadowy deep state organization after they come into possession of Utopia, a near-mythical cult underground graphic novel. Within the comic’s pages, they discover the conspiracy theories that actually might be real and are forced into the dangerous, unique and ironic position of saving the world.
Walton plays Grant, who is streetwise beyond his years, independent, fearless, crafty and charming. Raised in the Kansas City projects by an alcoholic single mother, he’s now roaming the streets alone. Grant embarks on a dangerous mission to uncover the secrets from Utopia. The role was played by Oliver Woollford in the original series.

The long-in-gestation remake of Channel 4's dark drama series, Utopia, is finally heading to Amazon Prime Video.
Amazon is conjuring a U.S. remake of the popular U.K. TV series, Utopia, adapting a story centered around a group of young-ish people who are hunted by a shadowy organization after they manage to get hold of a once-thought-mythical graphic novel which details all manner of conspiracies that turn out to be disturbingly true.
After a previously-mooted HBO version from David Fincher fell apart in 2015, Amazon would make the April 2018 announcement of a pickup for a 9-episode first season for Utopia, with Gillian Flynn pulling the strings as writer and executive producer, and it looks like we might finally get some resolution to the story, which was left hanging on the original 2013-2014 U.K. Channel 4 series after two short seasons of Dennis Kelly's creation.

The highly-anticipated new Cbbc sci-fi drama Eve starts on Monday 5th January on Cbbc starring Poppy Lee Friar, Eubha Akilade and Oliver Woollford.
The thirteen episode series combines sci-fi mystery adventure with a fish-out-of-water comedy-of-manners as life changes beyond recognition for the Clarke family when Eve, the world's first fully sentient ‘artificial person’, comes to live under their roof.
Eve (Poppy Lee Friar) is the first of her kind who, on the surface, seems perfectly human. But scratch beneath that surface and you find a robot capable of amazing feats - if she manages to navigate her way through the perils of teenage life first.
In episode one, maverick scientist Mary Douglas, played by Jane Asher, is being thrown out of her own scientific institute, Calimov Systems, by Katherine Calvin (Rhona Croker) who’s staging a hostile takeover.
Mary orders Nick Clarke, played by Ben Cartwright, to destroy her top-secret Project Eternity prototype,...

Rose Leslie, Ian McDiarmid and more have joined the cast of Dennis Kelly's Utopia for its second series...
Wonderful things are afoot. Not only is BBC Three's In the Flesh currently filming its second series, but Channel 4's Utopia has also set to work on the first block of episodes for series two.
Dennis Kelly's unsettling conspiracy drama is returning next year with six new fifty-minute episodes, including - in Kelly's own words - "a very odd" series opener, "which people are either going to really like or really say ‘what the fuck did you do that for?’ and I’ve got no idea what the reaction’s going to be".
Director Marc Munden, who was responsible for establishing Utopia's impressive style in series one, is back to head up the first three episodes of series two.

Utopia has been given a second series by Channel 4.
The critically-acclaimed dark thriller has been given the go-ahead for another run, despite the show's underwhelming ratings.
"Thanks to the extraordinary creativity of Dennis Kelly, Marc Munden and the team at Kudos, the first series of Utopia shocked and delighted critics and fans by turns," said Channel 4's head of drama Piers Wenger.
"We are thrilled to announce the further adventures for Utopia's eclectic cast of characters which are already shaping up to be more imaginative, outrageous and brilliantly intriguing than the first."
Chief Executive of Kudos Film and TV Jane Featherstone added: "The phenomenal audience response to Utopia over the six-week run was hugely rewarding for everyone involved.

A deliciously brutal and demented new series comes to DVD and Blu-ray this week. Though not for those of a nervous disposition, Utopia is a fine example of the twisted things that can be done on British television given sufficient talent and balls.
Graphic novel The Utopia Experiments is an esoteric tale. The picture it paints of a world where manmade diseases deliberately ravage populations is a little too blinkered and bleak for mainstream fanboy taste. The website dedicated to its mythology has a membership comprised of conspiracy theorists, skeptics and trolls. When five of the members agree to meet they expect a weird and wonderful evening. With the exception of shy newcomer Ian, they have all been chatting for some time and Bejan’s offer to share an original manuscript of the fabled sequel proves impossible to refuse.
Feisty Welsh bird Becky has other reasons for attending the meet-up.
