This British thespian has also graced the screen with a commanding presence, for example, taking on the title role in Coriolanus.

Ever dashed through the highs & lows of a superhero’s journey, both on-screen and off? It’s no secret that Grant Gustin, better known for his Flash portrayal, has zipped through an electrifying gauntlet on his nearly decade-long run.
When Gustin first donned the red suit and stepped into the lightning-fast shoes of Barry Allen in 2013, few could’ve anticipated the full measure of dedication this role would demand. This role not only catapulted him into the limelight but also committed him to a grueling schedule that would test his mettle.

One of the less glamorous aspects of the actor’s journey has been grappling with body image issues. Despite embodying a superhero, Gustin was far from immune to the harsh judgments & unrealistic standards set by Hollywood.

If asked to name who are some of the most iconic villains of the Marvel Universe, chances are the name “Doctor Doom” will come up. First appearing in Fantastic Four Issue #5 in May of 1962, the power-mad dictator has proven himself a worthy adversary for anyone who challenges his authority. He is set to make his debut as part of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will be portrayed by Robert Downy Jr.
However, not everyone seems all that happy about the announcement, specifically Jonathan Majors. Prior to his recent legal issues, Majors was cast as Kang the Conquerer, another Marvel villain who first appeared in Avengers Issue #8 in September 1964. Kang was also featured in the Disney+ series Loki and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
Initially, he was set to be the next main MCU threat with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. However, following Majors’ recent abuse case, he was dropped from the franchise.

Jonathan Majors was set to be the next major villain in the MCU as Kang the Conqueror, taking over the role from Josh Brolin’s Thanos. He first appeared as He Who Remains in ‘Loki’ Season 1, where his character and performance were widely praised.
Majors was subsequently cast in two more projects: ‘Loki’ Season 2, where he reprised his roles as both He Who Remains and Victor Timely, and ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.’
The release of ‘Quantumania’ marked the beginning of Jonathan Majors’ downfall. Shortly after the film’s debut, Majors was arrested on charges of physically assaulting a woman he knew, rumored to be his girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Following his arrest, he was removed from several projects, his manager and PR team resigned, and commercials featuring him were pulled.
Although he wasn’t officially fired by Disney at that time and ‘Loki’ Season 2 was released, everything was contingent on the legal outcome.

Do you remember Jonathan Majors, the promising actor who was set to portray Kang in the MCU and become the “next Thanos” of the franchise? Recently, it was reported that he was found guilty of physically attacking his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. As a consequence, he was sentenced to a 52-week in-person domestic violence intervention program, and his career took a significant hit.
Not only was he dismissed from the MCU role of Kang, but his character was also completely removed from the storyline. He has been replaced by Victor Von Doom, who will be portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. The legendary Oscar winner is making his return to the MCU in this new villainous role.
Majors, who appears to be struggling to regain his stardom, recently expressed his heartbreak over the casting change. He stated that he felt he was not treated fairly or equally compared to other actors.

Jonathan Majors got candid about being recast in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
TMZ stopped the actor on the street and asked him what his thoughts were about the news that Robert Downey Jr. would be returning to the MCU as notorious villain Doctor Doom, instead of Majors’ Kang serving as the big bad for the next two phases. The actor was dropped by Marvel after his conviction for reckless assault in the third degree and harassment late last year.
Majors admitted he was “heartbroken” over the news, “of course,” he said. “I love him. I love Kang. Dr. Doom is wicked, though.” When asked if he felt his treatment was fair compared to fellow Marvel stars like Downey and The Flash star Ezra Miller, who have faced their own legal issues, Majors said, “I think it’s fair that Mr. Downey is being and has been greeted with patience and curiosity and love,...

Fans of Marvel were recently surprised by the news that Robert Downey Jr. will be returning to the franchise, this time as Doctor Doom in upcoming Marvel films, after previously playing the beloved character Iron Man.
While many have begun anticipating seeing Downey Jr. embrace the role, former Marvel star Majors does not appear to be too happy with the direction the film company is taking.
In a new interview with TMZ, Majors expressed that...

Jonathan Majors shares his thoughts on Marvel Studios announcing Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the villain Dr. Doom.
The announcement at San Diego’s Comic-Con confirmed that Marvel was scrapping Avengers: Kang Dynasty, which was to focus on Majors’ villain introduced in 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
“Yeah, heartbroken. Of course,” Majors told TMZ after they asked him if he was hurt over Marvel’s decision to pivot away from his character. “I love Kang. Dr. Doom is wicked, though.”
The TMZ reporter noted that despite their past legal troubles, Downey Jr. and Ezra Miller at DC Studios were given opportunities to play their roles on the big screen.
“I think it’s fair that Mr. Downey is being and has been greeted with patience and curiosity and love, and that Mr. Miller has gotten the same treatment,” he said. “And that they...

Just as the internet was really getting going (rightfully) making fun of Robert Downey Jr.’s enormous new Marvel paycheck, Jonathan Majors had to pop in to remind people who the original villain was—both literally and figuratively. After all, Marvel probably would never have brought Downey back to play...

Last week, the big news out of San Diego Comic-Con was the multiverse-shattering revelation that "Iron Man" star and "Avengers: Endgame" savior Robert Downey Jr. would be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, in a surprising multiversal twist, Downey would not be suiting up as Iron Man but as "Fantastic Four" villain Doctor Doom.
While it's not yet entirely clear whether Downey will be playing the genuine namesake of Victor Von Doom in another timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe or a Tony Stark variant where the genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist turned to villainy instead of heroics, we do know that the next chapter of the "Avengers" franchise is no longer focused on Kang the Conqueror. Given the new title of "Avengers: Doomsday," the former path of "Avengers: The Kang Dynasty" is being pruned from the MCU timeline.
It remains to be seen how the MCU will deal with the previous presence of Kang,...

James Gunn is diligently working on establishing the newly revamped Dcu. The first release, “Creature Commandos,” is expected soon, but the true start of the cinematic universe is considered to be “Superman,” slated for release in 2025.
As part of the revamp, nearly the entire core cast of the Dceu has been recast, including the role of Flash, previously played by the highly controversial actor Ezra Miller.
Miller was initially seen as a great choice for the role, but a slew of accusations, legal troubles, and overall bad PR ultimately buried the actor’s reputation. It’s been speculated that ‘The Flash,’ released in 2023, partly failed due to Miller’s presence on screen.
With the Dcu likely recasting Barry Allen, fans have proposed Elliot Page as a potential replacement.

The Stephen King TV adaptations of the 90s have their legion of fans despite the varying qualities. The most famous mini-series of the bunch is the 1990 adaptation of It with Tim Curry in one of his many cultural defining roles as Pennywise. Many other adaptations include Storm of the Century and The Langoliers. One of the adaptations that has a cult following is the TV adaptation of The Stand from 1994. Blu-ray.com has recently reported that Paramount Home Media Distribution will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Mick Garris’ The Stand with a Limited SteelBook edition of the film, which is set to be sold exclusively at Walmart on September 24.
The description reads,

Recent revelations have sparked debate among superhero movie fans about whether “The Flash” might have been a stronger film under different direction. Shawn Levy, now helming Marvel’s highly anticipated “Deadpool & Wolverine,” disclosed that he was once in talks to direct the DC superhero film before Andy Muschietti ultimately took the reins.
While “The Flash” received mixed reviews upon its release, with praise for Ezra Miller’s performance and emotional depth, it also faced criticism for its CGI, multiverse handling, and controversial cameos. Some industry observers now speculate that Levy’s proven track record with balancing heart, humor, and spectacle might have addressed these issues.
Levy’s current work on “Deadpool & Wolverine,” which promises an expansive exploration of the Marvel multiverse, suggests he could have potentially refined “The Flash’s” most criticized aspects. The DC film’s multiverse sequence, in particular, was seen as a missed opportunity, with...

There is little doubt that Batman is arguably the most iconic superhero featured in the DC Universe. The superhero has been given a range of live-action and animated iterations, and among them, the Bruce Timm creations across the DC Animated Universe stands out for a variety of reasons.

Do you think a franchise reboot is fun without a tip of the cap to its storied past? James Gunn’s Superman, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, is set to make its theatrical debut in July 2025, bringing with it a heartfelt nod to a cinematic icon that is sure to make hearts swell.
That being said, can you think of a more fitting tribute than Christopher Reeve’s own flesh & blood, his son, Will Reeve, gracing the silver screen with a cameo as a TV reporter, intertwining legacy with modern reimagining? The beloved Christopher Reeve, whose portrayal of the Man of Steel left an indelible mark in the first four Superman flicks, will be honored properly in this much-anticipated chapter of the DC Universe film saga.

The much-anticipated Deadpool & Wolverine is swiftly approaching its impending release, with the hype for the MCU entry at an all-time high. Directed by Shawn Levy, the team-up film will see the titular heroes joining forces to defeat an uncanny threat. However, Levy would have almost certainly lost out on the gig had he accepted to direct a disastrous Dceu film.

A while back, Levy was in contention to helm The Flash movie based on the popular DC Comics character of the same name. However, given the eventual fate of The Flash movie, especially its lackluster performance at the box office, it is safe to say that it would have rendered the director unhireable from a Marvel Studios perspective.

James Gunn’s “Superman” is celebrating both the legacy of the Man of Steel and the actor who originated him on the big screen with a special cameo.
The late Christopher Reeve experienced his greatest commercial success playing Superman and his alter ego Clark Kent in the first four Superman movies. Now, his youngest son, journalist and ABC News correspondent Will Reeve, will make a cameo playing a TV reporter in the upcoming DC Studios movie.
The project is currently filming in Cleveland, Ohio, where local reporters (via Cleveland.com) captured all the behind-the-scenes action, including Reeve’s appearance on set during a major scene. David Corenswet stars as Superman in the character’s latest revival, written and directed by Gunn, the co-head of Warner Bros.-owned DC Studios. The film arrives in theaters on July 11, 2025.

With DC Studios' relaunch of the Dceu as the Dcu now well underway, we'd thought that was it for the "SnyderVerse."
Filmmaker Zack Snyder was allowed to share his vision for Justice League with the world in 2021, though that ultimately just saw the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement transform into #RestoreTheSnyderVerse. With it clear that's never going to happen, the campaign has largely lost steam in recent months.
Today, though, Snyder has taken to Vero to confirm that Zack Snyder's Justice League will be released theatrically. Before getting too excited, this may be a fan screening instead of a limited or wide release, likely organised by the director.
However, Warner Bros. may also be looking to recoup some of its losses given how successful other re-releases have been this year; Sony Pictures, for example, netted millions by putting the Spider-Man movies back in theaters earlier this summer. Still, reminding moviegoers of the Dceu...

There have been a plethora of actors who have had the honor to play the role of The Batman in live-action iterations. Ranging from George Clooney to the latest Robert Pattinson, only a select few of the most talented men in Hollywood has had the opportunity to play the Gotham caped crusader.

When one talks about charisma and panache, it is difficult to look past George Clooney. While the celebrity wooed audiences with his salt-and-pepper look and his inherent charm, he also proved that he had the acting chops to match his personality. But even Clooney couldn’t salvage his foray into the superhero world as Batman when his 1997 film Batman and Robin failed miserably and received a lot of criticism.

While the comic book universe at DC Studios has been making great progress under the watchful eye of James Gunn, the same cannot be said for the former inhabitants of the Dceu branch that operated under Zack Snyder. Besides bearing the honorary title of being one of the most debated and controversial trilogies to date, the franchise’s actors too have taken a liking to being subjected to media mockery recently.

Movie enthusiasts are well aware that Zack Snyder evokes strong opinions in the world of cinema—you either love his films or loathe them. There’s little middle ground with Snyder; his distinct vision either captivates audiences completely or leaves them dismissing his work as absurd. Known for his adaptations of comic books, Snyder once held significant influence over the Dceu (DC Extended Universe), contributing both its highlights and low points.

Over the years of its existence, Netflix has become a real beacon of hope for hundreds of movies that never made it to a successful theatrical run, with many of them getting an unprecedented attention from the streaming’s viewers as soon as they land on Netflix’s platform.
This week has marked yet another such case, as the streaming giant’s US top 10 suddenly welcomed the 2023 superhero film The Flash, which according to the recent data provided by FlixPatrol, is now getting closer to the very top of the chart, holding second place and only surpassed by Jessica Alba’s brand new thriller Trigger Warning.

Coming as part of DC’s movie collection, The Flash stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen, aka The Flash, a police forensic investigator from Central City whose superpower to move at incredible speed gained him a solid place in the Justice League.

Movie lovers will know that Zack Snyder is a very divisive personality in the world of cinema, as you either love his movies or you hate them. With Snyder, there is no in-between; his vision is so specific that you will either like it completely and enjoy his movies or think it completely ridiculous and consider his movies a failure. He has made a name for himself while adapting comic books and was, at one point, the main guy in charge of the Dceu (DC Extended Universe), who made both the best things from the Dceu and the worst things as well.
In this article, we are going to go back to Snyder’s Dceu and analyze the casting, as we are going to bring a list of the five best and five worst castings from Snyder’s era in charge of the DC fictional universe. We are going to...

For all its mishaps, one thing the now-defunct Dceu got right, at least for the most part, was the suits. From Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel suit to Wonder Woman, the Dceu didn’t struggle with getting the outfits of its heroes right, and Ben Affleck’s Batman vs Superman suit was arguably its best example. Even though the character itself wasn’t exactly true to its comic roots, the Bvs suit for the caped crusader was largely faithful to the source material.
But things went downhill since and fans are still unhappy with Affleck’s outfit in The Flash, which was his last dance in the realm of Dceu.

2023 wasn’t a smooth year for superhero flicks, and The Flash was the worst performer of them all, which reportedly lost WB almost $200M.

Hollywood has been renowned for figures like Stanley Kubrick whose extreme, almost cruel, attitude invaded movie sets, affecting crews and actors to the point of torture. Unconfirmed stories about the infamous director’s alleged abuse have littered the society papers and historical records from his time and disgruntled stars have lived to tell the tale via op-eds and interviews through the decades.
Stanley Kubrick [Photo: Phillip A. Harrington, Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London, 1949]However, the most popular piece of pop-culture myth about Stanley Kubrick revolves around his supposed obsessive-compulsive need for endless takes of a single scene until he obtained the desired result. As rumor would have it, these takes often racketed up to a number as high as 127.
While the psychological after-effects of such incidents would go on to shape the lives of the director and his actors, one thing was for sure: Stanley Kubrick was no perfectionist but he was certifiably a genius with a method behind his madness.

Ever since the production of Ezra Miller’s 2023 installment The Flash, the DC movie has been plagued with controversies and intense scrutiny, over the actor’s criminal charges. Thereafter, things only aggravated after the film hit the silver screen and disappointed fans with an abysmal narrative and inaccurate interpretation of characters.

From Barry Allen’s whiny, odd depiction to criticisms surrounding the film’s storyline, The Flash faced intense backlash following its release. But surprisingly, nothing upset fans more than the demoralizing interpretation of Ben Affleck’s Batman, in the movie. Even after a year, fans express their discontent with one particular scene involving the Caped Crusader and Wonder Woman.
Fans are Still Upset with the Batman and Wonder Woman Scene from The Flash
In the realm of the superhero genre, few franchises evoke as much passion and scrutiny as DC Comics adaptations.

Have you ever meditated on the ‘what-ifs’ of casting decisions that could’ve reshaped our beloved characters? Zack Snyder had a very valid reason for casting Henry Cavill over an actor who might have just been on the cusp of donning the iconic red cape: Joe Manganiello. The latter played Deathstroke in the Dceu.
It is exciting to peel back the layers of Snyder’s Man of Steel, a film that sparked debate over its tone and portrayal of Krypton’s last son. While the director’s vision faced scrutiny for allegedly missing Superman’s quintessential hopefulness, he himself pointed to a nuanced perspective on his protagonist’s innate “innocence”, a characteristic he found in Cavill.

In a world where superhero movies either hit the mark or miss it by a mile, Ezra Miller’s The Flash undoubtedly zapped for the latter. Met with skepticism and critical scrutiny following its release, The Flash is now celebrating its first anniversary since zipping onto the silver screen in that iconic red suit.

The DC Extended Universe might have failed at the box office, but the franchise has some of the most well-put-together action sequences for a slew of DC characters. Specifically, under the direct leadership of Zack Snyder, these characters have been able to go all out, without having to pull any punches.

In 2015, Netflix acquired the indie horror film “Circle,” which saw 50 strangers trapped in a room and forced to decide who would be the one survivor through a series of votes and debates about the worth of each human life.
Nearly a decade later, with the “12 Angry Men”-inspired project having become something of a cult hit, two producers of the film have reunited to create a sequel, “Circles.” Per the official logline, “17 years after being pawns in a cruel game of psychological warfare, the survivors of an invasion face a new threat.”
Michael Nardelli, who starred in “Circle” as lone survivor Eric, and Brent Stiefel are re-teaming to produce the sequel. Devon Graye is writing the film, which is financed and entering production later this year.

The history of film is teeming with alternate endings that never saw the light of day, whether it's because of production troubles, executive meddling, or writers and directors simply changing their minds. In franchise-oriented blockbuster cinema, the practice of studying, testing, and even shooting different endings is especially prevalent, as those movies have to weather a host of artistic and commercial ambitions that the ending must facilitate simultaneously.
Superhero movies, with their precise storytelling geometry and enormous cultural presence, are particularly susceptible to having their endings reconsidered or reshot. There is an enormous pressure for superhero movie endings to work, to resolve the plot efficiently, to send viewers home buzzing for the right reasons. While that sometimes leads to great, refreshingly thoughtful storytelling decisions, it can also lead to conformity, blandness, and incongruence just as often -- especially when the ending has been changed out of sheer executive pressure.
