Comedy Central wants to turn comedian James Davis into its next homegrown star. The network has ordered a new series set to be created by and star Davis. His weekly show, still untitled, will premiere in January 2017.
Davis already stars in Comedy Central’s most-watched Snapchat original series, “Swag-a-Saurus with James Davis.”

Here’s how Comedy Central describes the new show: “Born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, one block away from where ‘shit goes down,’ Davis will explore contemporary urban topics and share his perspective on the world he grew up in and the world he grew up next to through a unique, hybrid style of comedy that bridges the gap between urban and mainstream comedy.”
Davis created the show with Doug Karo, while Troy Miller and Stoney Sharp directed the pilot.
