Fox will show a new side — or rather, all sides — of a group of male celebrities in an upcoming special.
The network has signed up Anthony Anderson, Taye Diggs, NFL All-Pro Chris Jones, Tyler Posey, Dancing With the Stars judge Bruno Tonioli and James Van Der Beek to take part in The Real Full Monty. The two-hour special, set to air in the fall, will raise awareness for prostate, testicular and colorectal cancer testing and research — and end with the troupe performing a striptease act.
The Real Full Monty is based on a series of British TV specials, which in turn are inspired by the 1997 movie The Full Monty, about a group of regular guys who form a male striptease act.
“Don’t die of embarrassment. Get checked! That’s the message behind The Real Full Monty special,” said Anderson, who’s also an executive producer. “I am honored...

Ariana DeBose fans are slamming Sunday night’s Critics Choice Awards for a presenter’s joke about the Oscar winner’s singing.
During the presentation of the best song category, presenters Bella Ramsey and Anthony Ramos said that the category’s nominees included “some of the most famous voices in the music industry” and then listed Billie Eilish, Lenny Kravitz, Dua Lipa — “who are all fire, we love them all,” Ramos said. And then Ramsey added, “then there are the actors who also think they’re singers: Jack Black, Ariana DeBose and, Ken himself, Ryan Gosling.”
The camera then cut to DeBose in the audience looking a bit surprised and perplexed, though not actually upset.
The inclusion of DeBose in the joke struck many as rather unfair given she’s an accomplished Broadway musical star (including being a member of the original cast of Hamilton) and won an Oscar for...

The British royal family is headed by the monarch, King Charles III. But the “power behind the throne” is someone else. According to a commentator, there’s another royal whom “a lot of the members of the family look to.” And that person is — drumroll, please — none other than Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales.
Kate’s a ‘key player’ in the royal family, ‘always front and center’
Kate doesn’t hold her own place in the line of succession. Her husband, Prince William, and their children are in line for the throne. Nevertheless, she’s still a future queen with a prominent place in the Firm.
“The interesting thing about Kate, the Princess of Wales, is her steeliness,” Nick Bullen, cofounder of True Royalty TV, said in Kate Middleton: Working Class to Windsor. “She is a very strong character who has transitioned from being a young bride to being...

Prince Harry is poised to become even more involved in the Invictus Games. A commentator says the Duke of Sussex, despite having lived in California since 2020, must find a way to get “comfortable” in his post-working royal existence. And the games, which began in 2014, will likely be his answer.
Harry’s future is ‘uncertain’ 3 years after moving to California
The Duke of Sussex has called California home since relocating stateside in 2020 with Meghan Markle and their now-4-year-old son, Prince Archie. Today, they’re a family of four, having welcomed a daughter, Princess Lilibet, 2, in 2021.
Although the Sussexes have had years to settle into their new life and figure out a path forward, according to royal commentator Nick Bullen, “Harry has an uncertain future currently.”

Princess Lilibet’s birthday passed with no public acknowledgment from the royal family. Both a commentator and a “palace source” say it was “not a snub” to her parents, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

June began with a birthday in the Sussex household. On June 4, 2023, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s youngest child, Lili, turned 2. Harry and Meghan didn’t publicly celebrate the milestone in their daughter’s life.
Although Lili’s birthday did make headlines of sorts when a judge called Harry out for skipping court on June 5 in London, England, because of his daughter’s birthday.

The coronation of King Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles was a spectacle of royal elegance. The historical 2023 ceremony was the first time a queen consort was crowned in 87 years. However, Camilla nearly avoided a major crown mishap at the ceremony, claims a royal expert. Here’s what happened.

After being coronated queen consort, Camilla Parker Bowles brushed her hair out of her eyes. Atop her head sat the Queen Mary crown.
Ahead of the event, jewelry experts made significant changes to the crown Camilla planned to wear. Some stones were replaced with Cullinan III, IV, and V diamonds in honor of Queen Elizabeth. The diamonds were part of Queen Elizabeth II’s jewelry collection for many years and were often worn by the monarch as brooches.

The coronation of King Charles III saw Prince Harry return to London, England. It marked his first time with the royal family since the release of Spare as well as his and Meghan Markle’s Netflix docuseries. While it may have been the start of a new chapter for the royal family, a commentator says it might’ve also been a farewell of sorts for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their “interaction” with the royal family.

London may not play host to the Duke of Sussex in the foreseeable future. “There seems to be no reason for him to come back to London anytime soon,” Nick Bullen, editor-in-chief of True Royalty TV, told Us Weekly.
“Meghan certainly is showing no interest in coming back,” he continued.

Apparently, the royal family breathed a big sigh of relief when Meghan Markle RSVP’d no to the coronation. And, according to an expert, they weren’t the only ones. The relief also extended to the Duchess of Sussex.

Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle were two women who the public thought would form a close bond over their unique lifestyles. After all, it’s not every day that one marries into the highest-profile royal family in the world. However, the fairytale didn’t quite happen like that. Shortly before Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry, rumors started to swirl that Meghan and Kate were in the midst of a falling out — a situation that has hardly improved in the five years since Meghan and Harry tied the knot.
Still, one royal expert says the feud never existed — but mostly because there was never a relationship that could fall apart.

Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle’s alleged feud is a tale as old as time at this point. The two women first met back in 2016, when Prince Harry met Meghan through a mutual friend. Harry and Meghan only dated for about a year and a half before he proposed in late 2017, and they were married just six months later.
Kate and Meghan did step out together once, but it didn’t take long for stories to circulate that the two women weren’t very close. Now, one expert says Kate called Meghan “different” at a dinner event shortly after Meghan and Harry wed.

Jamie Lee Curtis was all of us when she heaped praise on Ariana DeBose’s viral rap at last weekends BAFTA Film Awards. The “Everything Everywhere All at Once” Oscar nominee joined Angela Bassett in defending DeBose’s performance, which saw her playfully shouting out many of the legendary actresses in the room who are competing for Oscars this season. While some initial reactions were mixed, the bit quickly went viral and has been referenced in performances by some of the biggest names in music.
Speaking to Deadline on the PGA Awards red carpet on Saturday night, Curtis praised DeBose’s performance — and did not mince words when voicing her disagreements with DeBose’s critics.
“I’m unclear as to what the fuck people are on about. To me it was joyous, celebratory, sisterly, hot, spicy… and she’s just so incredibly talented,” Curtis said, before explaining that some of...

Angela Basset doesn't just do the thing, she does the right thing. While walking the red carpet at the NAACP Awards on Feb. 25, the "911" star revealed to Variety that she reached out to Ariana DeBose after her BAFTA rap went viral in large part for her "Angela Bassett did the thing" line. The commentary surrounding the rap was mixed. Some people genuinely loved the unique opener, which included shout-outs for all of the best actress and best supporting actress nominees, while other internet commentators were more mean-spirited.
The end result left DeBose in the spotlight as she tried to deal with her song becoming the latest internet meme. This led Bassett to touch base with the "West Side Story" actor to make sure she wasn't overwhelmed by all of the attention.
"I Dm'd her last night. I did. It was beautiful," Bassett told the publication. "I just wanted to...

Angela Bassett has revealed that she contacted Ariana DeBose after the singer name-dropped her in her viral Baftas rap.
West Side Story star DeBose, 32, opened the Baftas on Sunday 19 February with a rendition of Eurythmics’ 1985 hit track “Sisters Are Doin’ It for Themselves”.
Halfway through the song, DeBose broke into a rap, giving shout-outs to the female nominees in the audience with lines like: “Angela Bassett did the thing. Viola Davis, my Woman King. Blanchett Cate, you’re a genius. Jamie Lee [Curtis], you are all of us.”
Speaking to Variety on the red carpet at the NAACP Image Awards on Saturday (25 February), Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star Bassett, 64, said: “I Dm’d her last night. I did. It was beautiful.
“I just wanted to make sure she was Ok because, you know, it’s a lot of attention. And she is A-ok.”

Angela Bassett indeed did the thing — which was, of course, following up with Ariana DeBose after the Oscar winner’s viral rap performance at last Sunday’s BAFTA Film Awards.
The musical number, which saw the Oscar-winner shouting out many of the female BAFTA nominees, has been referenced by the likes of Lizzo and Adele in live performances this week and referenced on social media by the likes of Halle Berry. DeBose’s playful references to the actors in the room — “Ana, girl, you were great in ‘Blonde,'” among others — has apparently delighted the subjects of her quips.
Speaking to Variety on the red carpet of the NAACP Image Awards — where she won both Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for “Wakanda Forever” and Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series for “9-1-1” — Bassett revealed that she had absolutely no problem with the shoutout. Angela Bassett has simply done the thing once again. After being name-dropped by Ariana DeBose in a rap that opened the BAFTA Film Awards, the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” star tells Variety that she reached out to DeBose in the aftermath to check in on her.
“I Dm’d her last night. I did. It was beautiful,” Bassett told Variety senior entertainment writer Angelique Jackson on the red carpet at the NAACP Image Awards on Saturday evening. “I just wanted to make sure she was okay because, you know, it’s a lot of attention. And she is A-Okay.”
Bassett’s mention was one of the catchier lyrics in DeBose’s opener. DeBose, who won last year’s BAFTA and Academy Award for best supporting actress for her performance in “West Side Story,” kicked off the British Academy Film Awards on Feb. 19 with a rap that name-dropped several of the evening’s nominees,...

Ariana DeBose is speaking out for the first time since her “Angela Bassett did the thing” rap performance at the 2023 BAFTA Awards went viral.
In a preview for an upcoming interview on BBC Radio 2’s “The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show” posted Saturday on TikTok, the “West Side Story” star brushes away the criticism and instead chooses to focus on the love she’s received. Ball’s among DeBose’s fans who loved the performance, saying “it was a woman, singing and dancing, being magnificent, celebrating women onstage.”
“You know what, you might be one of the few [who loved the performance],” DeBose said. “I’ll take it, because you’re my people!”
DeBose, who opened the 2023 BAFTA Awards performing “Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves” and “We Are Family”, as well as an original rap where she shouted out the awards show’s female nominees, shared a bit about how the performance came about.

Lizzo is our woman king after this silly moment! During the Special singer’s show Thursday night in Amsterdam, Lizzo made a playful reference to Ariana DeBose’s now-viral (and super cringey) rap at the BAFTAs earlier this week.
“Let’s shake it off! Angela Bassett did the thing, shake it off!” she said on stage with a cackle and a DeBose-inspired shimmy. “Angela Bassett did thang. Yeah!”

British actor Phil Davis announced his resignation from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, which hosts the annual BAFTAs, following the 2023 awards ceremony, which he called “embarrassing.”
Davis, who has starred in films including “Secrets & Lies” and “Quadrophenia,” plus series like “Doctor Who,” “Sherlock,” and “Slow Horses,” slammed the BAFTAs as an “embarrassing travesty” this year. Davis was previously nominated for Best Supporting Actor for 2004 film “Vera Drake.”
“The BAFTA awards were an embarrassing travesty,” Davis tweeted. “Cutting deserving winners speeches for toe-curling non interviews. Poor [host] Richard E. Grant pretending to arrive in a Batmobile and no Bernard Cribbens in memorium. I resigned my membership.”
BAFTA Film Award winner Cribbens was not included in the In Memoriam segment, leading “Doctor Who” showrunner Russell T. Davies to take to Instagram to complain about the gross oversight.
Davies reposted an official BAFTA tweet that read: “With limited time in our broadcast,...

Ariana DeBose has commented on her much-derided performance at the 2023 Baftas for the first time since the event.
The 32-year-old West Side Story star opened the Baftas on Sunday (19 February) with a rendition of Eurythmics’s 1985 hit track “Sisters Are Doin’ It for Themselves”.
Halfway through the song, DeBose broke into rap, name-checking the female nominees in the audience with lines like: “Angela Bassett did the thing. Viola Davis, my Woman King. Blanchett Cate, you’re a genius. Jamie Lee [Curtis], you are all of us.”
Following the performance, DeBose deactivated her Twitter account as the rap became the subject of online ridicule, leading fans to believe she was upset by the reaction.
Her Instagram, however, remains active. The star has now commented on a roundup of the many internet memes poking fun at “Angela Basset did the thing” in particular.

You can hate thank Lin Manuel Miranda for making actors think they need to rap to get their points across. The latest victim? Hamilton alum Ariana DeBose, who opened the 2023 BAFTA Awards with a clumsy musical salute to the biggest women in film.
“All the ladies in the room/ Supporting and leading/ All here, I presume,” DeBose begins, immediately out of breath. DeBose shouts out the likes of a horrified Hong Chau and Emma Thompson before the camera cuts to the singing actress herself, who delivers the hollow lines: “Angela Bassett did the thing/ Viola Davis, my Woman King/ Blanchett, Cate, you’re a genius/ Jamie Lee, you are all of us.”
What, exactly, did Bassett do? How do we laymen relate to Curtis? The answers to these questions don’t matter. What matters is that DeBose posed them in front of a room full of Hollywood hostages, bastardizing a...

The 2023 BAFTAs on Sunday were supposed to be about the awards, but social media is focused on just one musical performance from the evening.
Oscar-winning “West Side Story” star Ariana DeBose performed a medley during the British awards show, celebrating the role of women in entertainment.

Baftas producer Nick Bullen has spoken out against the Twitter backlash aimed at Ariana Debose’s performance.
During Sunday (19 February) night’s film awards, the former Bafta-winner opened the event with a rendition of Eurythmics’s 1985 hit track “Sisters Are Doin’ It for Themselves”.
Midway through the song, DeBose introduced a rap in which she name-checked all the female stars in the audience. The clip has since gone viral, with many viewers bashing the “cringey” moment on Twitter.
Following the ceremony, in an interview with Variety, Bullen addressed the critics, claiming their assessment was “incredibly unfair”.
“I think it’s incredibly unfair, to be frank. I absolutely loved it. Everybody I’ve spoken to who was in the room absolutely loved it,” he argued in defence of DeBose.
“She’s a huge star, she was amazing. The songs she was singing are very familiar songs, the room was clapping, and...

Just a day after stealing the show at the 2023 BAFTA Awards, Ariana DeBose has already gained her defenders. Nick Bullen, a producer of the ceremony, has criticized those that mocked the “West Side Story” Oscar Winner’s opening rap performance, calling the criticism “incredibly unfair.”
During the Sunday night ceremony, DeBose performed a medley of the songs “Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves” and “We Are Family” onstage with a group of backup dancers. In the middle of her performance, DeBose launched into a rap in which she shouted out the various women nominated and present at the ceremony: “Angela Bassett did the thing, Viola Davis my ‘Woman King,’ Blanchett Cate you’re a genius, Jamie Lee you are all of us.” Her rap, particularly the “Angela Bassett did the thing” moment, immediately went viral, with clips of it flooding Twitter.

BAFTAs awards producer Nick Bullen believes Twitter criticism of Ariana DeBose’s opening number at Sunday’s awards show was “incredibly unfair.”
Speaking to Variety the morning after the telecast, the producer — who was backstage during the London awards ceremony honoring the best movies of the year — shared that the “West Side Story” star “put the whole piece together” with her team, working closely with a musical director and choreographer, and didn’t deserve the vitriol.
DeBose and her back-up dancers burst onto the stage following host Richard E. Grant’s opening monologue. Belting out “Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves” and “We Are Family,” the singer transitioned into an original rap saluting the awards’ female nominees.
“Angela Bassett did the thing, Viola Davis my ‘Woman King,’ Blanchett Cate you’re a genius, Jamie Lee you are all of us,” sang DeBose, who danced her way around the front row...

Spun Gold, the go-to production company for royal events and documentaries, have been appointed a co-producer of the BAFTA film and TV awards.
The company recently produced Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations for ITV and are known for their royal documentaries, including “Prince William: Monarch in the Making” and “Secrets of the Royals: Inside the Crown.” They were awarded the BAFTA production contract for two years, beginning in 2023, following a tender process.
As part of their remit, they have been tasked with “reimagining and significantly expanding” the awards shows’ production and format for broadcast.
This year’s BAFTA film awards ceremony, which was hosted by Rebel Wilson, drew an average of 2.5 million viewers for its broadcast, down on 2020’s pre-pandemic 3 million. Meanwhile the TV awards, hosted by Richard Ayoade, drew 2.4 million viewers. Both shows are traditionally broadcast an hour or two after they take place, which allows them to be edited.

True Royalty TV has embarked on a new funding round and wants to raise $12 million as it looks to expand its royal-themed streaming service. The Svod player has brought in Laurence Hollingworth, J.P. Morgan’s former vice chairman, Emea, as chairman of its board as it plots its next moves.
True Royalty TV’s initial seed-funding rounds raised $7 million. Its subscriber numbers currently run into the tens of thousands. Since launch it has secured a distribution deal with Comcast for its Xfinity X1 platform. New third-party distribution deals will be announced shortly.
The new cash will be used on tech, marketing, and content, in part to expand the geographical footprint of the service. It is currently available in Australasia, North America, and the U.K. and Ireland. New markets, including India, and China, where interest in the British Royal Family is growing significantly, are among those targeted for expansion, the company said.

Channel 4 is to test the resolve of meat-eaters by asking them to live with the animals they usually serve up for dinner, in a new format from Spun Gold and Rise Films.
The British broadcaster has commissioned Meat the Family (working title), a three-part series in which four families look after animals including pigs, chickens, and cows.
At the end of their time with the livestock, and having learned about their intelligence and the realities of farming at scale, they must decide whether to send their new friends to the slaughterhouse or the sanctuary.
The format has an unusual backstory. It was devised by Kate Morey at Rise Films, the production company behind Netflix documentary Icarus, but she left before it came to fruition.
Rise allowed Morey to develop the format further at Spun Gold, in exchange for taking a chunk of the rights and the production fee. Morey...
