When Steph Curry Wanted to Become a Sitcom Star, the Minds Behind ‘Happy Endings’ Sprung Into Action
What do you do when one of the biggest sports stars on the planet asks you to write a role for him? If you’re David Caspe and Adam Pally, you think quickly.
The duo — who first worked together on the cult ABC sitcom “Happy Endings,” created by Caspe and starring Pally as Max Blum, a disheveled gay man making ends meet as an unlicensed limousine driver while mooching off his ensemble of Chicago friends — never expected to find themselves writing a mockmentary about Steph Curry. But when the Golden State Warriors star teamed up with his wife Ayesha Curry to host the game show “About Last Night” on what was then called HBO Max in 2022, their comedic fates changed forever.
Each episode of the show featured different celebrity couples answering embarrassing questions about each other, and both Pally and Caspe appeared as guests along with their respective partners. They...

Reynolds has finally copped to being part of leaking Deadpool test footage way back in 2014, when the film was in the production bardo between editing and theaters.
The clip was an instant hit with Marvel fans, whose enthusiastic push finally gave the film the green light.
Reynolds has previously hinted that he was part of posting the clip online. But the final confirmation came during a Vanity Fair lie detector interview, when co-star Hugh Jackman asked him directly about it.
“That’s a great question,” Reynolds said. “This is a great question. Pass.”
Jackman then reminded Reynolds that he was hooked up to a polygraph machine.
“I just want to remind you that this does not follow the letter of the f***ing law,” Reynolds replied. “And if I wanted to break out of this room and destroy everything in my path, I will.

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck came together after years to start their very own production company, Artists Equity. And they started it with the feature film Air, based on the Air Jordan partnership between NBA superstar Michael Jordan and the athletic footwear and apparel company, Nike. The movie was released last year, starring Damon in the lead, and Affleck in the directorial chair.

Ever since his introduction in a Butterfingers commercial during The Simpsons' days on The Tracey Ullman Show, Milhouse Van Houten has been the butt of every joke that’s been gracious enough to include him. With a moniker borrowed from Richard Nixon’s middle name, a broken home and a tender heart that doesn’t inspire romance nearly as much as it attracts aggression, Milhouse might just be the most unfortunate fourth grader at Springfield Elementary, and his classmates never miss a chance to remind him of that fact.
However, one pointy-haired, vegetarian Venus has occasionally tossed Milhouse the small crumbs of compassion that inspire an ever-lasting crush in a lonely heart — Milhouse has loved little Lisa dearly for 35 seasons, and, if his predictions are correct, today may be the day that he finally buys her love in return.

Google a list of the all-time best Saturday Night Live hosts, and you’ll find a surprising number of people who you’d never guess were funny in the first place.
I mean, before SNL, who knew athletes Charles Barkley and Peyton Manning were hilarious? Who watched Nsync videos and predicted that Justin Timberlake had “Dick in a Box” in him? Billie Eilish? Chance the Rapper? Anyone have news anchor Brian Williams on their funny bingo card?
As the show embarks on its landmark 50th season, here are five more suggestions for out-of-the-box SNL hosts who just might knock it out of the park…
1 Tony Hawk
Hawk has been quietly comedy-adjacent for years, appearing in College Humor sketches, skateboarding in a fat suit in a Jackass movie and lending his voice to The Simpsons.
His Twitter feed is surprisingly funny, too, full of self-deprecating jabs and goofy insights. As a performer,...

In the first on-the-record comments by a media partner in the NBA’s pending $76 billion TV rights bonanza, Comcast president Mike Cavanagh said Tuesday that the league will be a fixture for NBCUniversal for “decades to come.”
The exec said Comcast expects an 11-year deal with the NBA will “soon” be announced. Thus far, a drip-drip series of reports in various media outlets, attributed to anonymous sources, have indicated that Disney has re-upped with the league. A third package is being pursued by Prime Video and Warner Bros Discovery.
After reports indicated Amazon had secured the rights, Wbd on Monday said it was asserting its matching rights, introducing a wrinkle in the long-gestating set of agreements.
“We don’t believe that the resolution of matching rights will affect the package that we expect to be awarded,” Cavanagh said today on Comcast’s second-quarter earnings call.

Sue Bird, a 20-year WNBA star, said that the alleged hate toward Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark is just trash talk that’s misinterpreted.
Clark takes the floor today at the WNBA All-Star game that pits the league stars against Team USA, the women’s basketball team for the upcoming Paris Olympics.
“I think the majority of WNBA players with their play, with their talk, it was just competition, not hate for a person,” Bird said.
“Caitlin will go down as, whatever you want to call it, the one who made the change, this pivotal person,” added Bird, who retired in 2022. She was speaking during an appearance on the Good Game with Sarah Spain podcast on iHeart. “She will, 100 percent. But in other leagues … it was never like when LeBron (James) came, ‘Oh, Michael Jordan didn’t matter.’ And for some reason that happened, and it caused this whole thing.

Chainsaws are better known for tearing things apart rather than bringing them together, but the ballad of Conan and Liza couldn’t have been written without a ripper.
Back in 2000, many regional NBC affiliates had an interesting policy of allowing a local madman to plan their nightly schedule. Due to this unorthodox programming philosophy, there was a two-and-a-half hour break between the end of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Night with Conan O'Brien in the Houston market, pushing the latter late-night show all the way back to 2:10 a.m., a time slot that attracts the most unusual of local sponsors.
In order to playfully call out Houston’s scheduling lunatic for his shoddy work, Conan O'Brien decided to select one such Houston sponsor for an “advertising makeover,” in which he would enlist the help of a top New York ad agency to punch up the early...

In 2007, some woefully misguided comedy gatekeepers decided that Joe Rogan couldn’t put asses in seats without Fear Factor boosting his public profile — sounds like someone skipped their morning Alpha Brain.
Today, in 2024, there isn’t a single comedy club in America that wouldn’t jump at the chance to host Rogan as a headliner unless they held strong convictions about vaccinations, immigration or Brendan Schaub. Through his podcast The Joe Rogan Experience, the former Fear Factor host commands a larger following than any other stand-up comedian alive, and the fiscal impact of his association with products, projects or performance venues could only be compared to how the famous “Oprah Effect” generated massive demand for businesses endorsed by Oprah Winfrey among the exact opposite population from Rogan’s following.

Ever been in a musical tug-of-war where you are so enthralled by one melody that your enthusiasm wanes for another? With Steph Curry and LeBron James leading the way in a lighthearted discussion that is delightful to listen to, a symphony of viewpoints has emerged recently. The discord? Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us—a track that’s been spicing up the pre-and post-game arenas with its West Coast vibes since it dropped in May 2024.

Former President Barack Obama reportedly visited the USA Men’s Basketball team earlier this week as they celebrated USA Basketball’s 50th Anniversary ahead of their journey to the Olympics. Obama reportedly wished the team luck while also honoring legendary hall of famers of the sport.
A video of Obama congratulating Team USA has now gone viral. Obama’s interactions with the players and the coaches of the team were pointed out to be awfully similar to a Key & Peele skit that sees a parody of President Obama (at the time) treating different supporters differently.

The NBA is moving ever closer to clinching a set of media rights deals worth a total of $76 billion, even as uncertainty continues to swirl around the league’s future with longtime partner Turner Sports.
NBCUniversal, Amazon Prime Video and Disney/ESPN have all finalized their packages, a person familiar with the negotiations told Deadline. The 11-year deals will start after the 2024-25 season.
A series of press reports have linked the media and tech firms to the NBA for several weeks. The holdup in a formal announcement from the league or media partners has stemmed from Turner and parent Warner Bros. Discovery looking for ways to retain rights after nearly four decades. While Turner has appeared to be on the outside looking in, it reportedly has matching rights and is looking to match Amazon’s offer, which is for a thinner slice of games. Prime Video, as it did...

Michael Jordan’s journey to becoming arguably the greatest basketball player of all time is well-documented. However, few know about the significant impact his older brother, Larry Jordan, had on his career and competitive spirit. Larry Jordan’s Basketball Talent As former Laney High School head coach Clifton ‘Pop’ Herring explained, Larry was so driven and so competitive an athlete that if he had been 6-2 instead of 5-7, I’m sure Michael would have been known as Larry’s brother instead of Larry always being known as Michael’s brother. Larry was not just an older sibling; he excelled in basketball in his own...

Right from the start, Kobe was crazed with Mike and wanted to talk to him at every opportunity. Bean’s best chance was every time his Lakers faced Jordan’s Bulls. Eminem has had one of the greatest careers of all time. He has collectively been regarded as the king of the rap genre, having had hits follow him through his professional life. He is known for being ruthless when it comes to his songs; always having something to say, and the world waiting to listen to his every word. There is no better example of this than his upcoming album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce).

Among them are stars like Chris “Ct” Tamburello, Johnny Bananas, Cara Maria Sorbello, Jordan Wiseley, and Veronica Portillo, who won multiple seasons.
Other stars arrive on the competition series and make a name for themselves in the game as legitimate future contenders.

When “Bridgerton” finally returned to Netflix with four new episodes on May 16, fans had been clamoring for the soapy historical romance series after a two-year break. As a result, the series stormed to the top of the most-watched streaming programs on the Samba TV Weekly Wrap Report. The third season of the show remained in the top spot for two consecutive weeks and never left the Top 10 over the past month, although it did slide to 10th place for the June 13 edition of this column.
Never fear, reinforcements have arrived in the form of four new episodes comprising Part 2 of “Bridgerton’s” split third season.
