George Clooney’s New York Times op-ed calling for President Biden to drop out of the election felt like something more than standard-issue celebrity activism for a few reasons. For the political class, it was not just an actor speaking, but a major Democratic Party donor and fundraiser — one whose insight on Biden’s age and manner was bolstered by his having seen the President in action at a June 15 fundraiser.
But for the general public, something more ineffable is at work. On- and off-screen, Clooney has painstakingly constructed an image for himself that’s unlike practically any of his peers on the A-list. As an actor and as a public figure, Clooney is a self-styled American conscience, a leading-man throwback who provides a sort of guiding sensibility to the films he anchors, and to the causes he supports.
Beyond his fundraising for the Democrats, Clooney is a plainspoken advocate...

It’s all about trust. “There is an unspoken trust between fans and the stars they admire, and politics undercuts that trust. That’s why politics is off limits to celebrities who have a survival instinct.”
That’s what one star confided to me on issues that now seem irrelevant (details below). I’m certain George Clooney considered that trust this week before going public with his startling call for Joe Biden to withdraw from the presidential race.
I have great respect for Clooney’s decision, but I also believe it will cost him. I don’t claim a personal friendship with Clooney, but I’ve spent enough time with him to know that this must have been a painful decision.
Politics, he knows, is a dangerous game for celebrities. Some survive, others are permanently damaged. Again, there’s that subtext of trust.

“It was a bad episode,” President Joe Biden told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos of his rambling June 27 debate appearance in an interview airing tonight that could be pivotal in whether the 81-year-old incumbent stays in the race against Donald Trump or not. “No indication of a serious condition,” Biden added in words even Ronald Reagan didn’t have to say while in office.
“I was just having a bad night,” the president went onto say in terms he and his supporters have repeated over and over to shrug off the disastrous debate. “I was exhausted.”
It’s not clear that Potus actually watched the debate, however, according to the ABC News clip.
“Did you ever watch the debate afterwards?” GMA co-anchor and ABC News chief newsman Stephanopoulos asked. “I don’t think I did,” replied Biden in a line that will do little to help those who say the president...

In releasing his ‘X’ trilogy, Ti West has delivered three very powerful, yet different films that have each left an indellible mark on horror and modern cinema more widely.
With MaXXXine, the grand finale of this project, West takes us on a visceral journey through 1980s Hollywood, weaving a tale that is as much a slasher as it is a critique of the very industry it depicts. This third installment sees Mia Goth reprise her role as Maxine Minx, the ambitious survivor from X, now thrust into the glitzy yet perilous world of Los Angeles.
Set in 1985, MaXXXine opens with a montage that situates us firmly in the cultural milieu of the period, a time of moral panic, sensationalist media, and the burgeoning home video market. Clips of Ronald Reagan pontificating about American values juxtapose with news reports on the ‘Night Stalker’ and the satanic panic, creating an atmosphere thick with paranoia and fear.

Exclusive and Updated: “Why isn’t Joe Biden on 60 Minutes tonight? Why wasn’t he on Meet the Press this morning?”
Those are the questions an exasperated top Hollywood donor had Sunday as the blast radius from the president’s disastrous June 27 debate performance continued to expand despite the White House and the campaign’s efforts to act like it was just a bump in the road to reelection.
“They need to stop blaming other people, the president needs to show people he’s up to the job,” the donor, who attended the fundraiser with Vice President Kamala Harris at Rob and Michele Reiner’s on Saturday night, added. “They need to get him on TV, now!”
Expressing impatience at best and anger at worst with the campaign and the 81-year-old Biden’s weak-voiced and meandering face-off with a surprisingly focused and unsurprisingly falsehood-spreading Donald Trump on CNN on Thursday,...

Eddie Murphy Recalls His Anger Over David Spade’s ‘Racist’ Joke on ‘Saturday Night Live’ in the ’90s

Eddie Murphy said he’s been the target of “cheap shots” over the years — including a “racist” joke that David Spade told on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” where Murphy had once been a cast member.
Murphy, in an interview published by the New York Times, said Spade’s joke on “SNL” about his supposedly failing career came after Murphy’s 1995 horror spoof “Vampire in Brooklyn” had flopped at the box office. The hurtful joke was part of Spade’s “Hollywood Minute” sketch from December of that year on the late-night show, in which — after a photo of Murphy popped up on the screen — Spade said, “Look children, it’s a falling star. Make a wish.”
“It was like: ‘Yo, it’s in-house! I’m one of the family, and you’re fucking with me like that?’ It hurt my feelings like that,” Murphy told the Times.

Updated on Friday, June, 28, 2024 at 4:34 p.m. Et: With the expected Nielsen update now available, the Trump/Biden debate drew 51.27 million viewers. Earlier-available data had the number at 47.9 million viewers, but that tally did not include out-of-home, mobile, or PC viewing.
Also: CNN is now on top of Fox News Channel with 9.53 million viewers, the most for any individual network, vs. Fnc’s 9.276 million.
Previously:
There’s no debate about it: Thursday was a big night for CNN, and for the 22 other networks and platforms that carried the U.S. Presidential Debate.
According to preliminary Nielsen numbers, the simulcast of President Joe Biden vs. former president Donald Trump averaged 47.9 million viewers. These early numbers do not include out-of-home viewing, mobile, and PC viewing. Updated numbers will be revealed in a few hours and they will bring the total a bit higher. Joe Biden lost the first debate. And he’s put his candidacy — and the country — in a profoundly difficult place.
It’s hard to say it more clearly. From the opening exchanges, the incumbent appeared hoarse, unsteady, and at times confused. He seemed to embody the right-wing caricature of the president as an old man who has lost the plot.
One moment epitomized Biden’s troubles. Answering a question ostensibly about the national debt, Biden first got tripped up about whether the 1,000 richest people in America are “trillionaires” or “billionaires.

Mia Goth returns for the third chapter of the X trilogy as an adult film star trying to take a crack at horror while a serial killer stalks the city’s sex workers
Director Ti West goes three for three, serving up a horribly watchable new episode in his outrageous black-comic franchise of aspirational horror porn, this time set in 80s Hollywood. Mia Goth returns triumphantly as Maxine, now known as adult movie star MaXXXine Minx, whose traumatic teen story was told in X from 2022 and its 2023 prequel Pearl. West mulches up a thick impasto of pulp, gore, filth and fear and gets away with some colossally self-aware scenes, including one in the Bates Motel set on the Universal studio lot, and one under the Hollywood sign; there is also some blue chip acting talent in the supporting roles.

Welcome back to Oscars Playback, in which Gold Derby editors and Experts Christopher Rosen and Joyce Eng revisit Oscar ceremonies and winners of yesteryear. In our Season 3 premiere, we cover the 53rd Academy Awards in 1981, honoring the films of 1980.
If you were waiting on pins and needles back then to see who would win, you had to wait an extra day. For the first time since 1968, the Oscars were postponed following the attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan. Once the ceremony was underway, which included a video message from the actor-turned-potus taped weeks earlier, it was an extraordinary night for “Ordinary People.” The Robert Redford-helmed drama collected four awards, including Best Picture, but now receives undue hate as the film that beat Martin Scorsese‘s “Raging Bull.”

It wasn’t a full sweep for “Ordinary People” though.

Jodie Foster is one of the most beloved actresses of her generation, a two-time Oscar winner who got her start as a pre-teen and has continued giving strong performances for more than 50 years. But unlike so many actresses, Foster has shied away from the stage…and you can blame John Hinckley, Jr. for that.
But first, some context. Remember, Hinckley is the would-be assassin of then-President Ronald Reagan, firing six shots at Reagan in a limp-dicked attempt to woo Jodie Foster in 1981. Obviously the event – and the aftermath – scarred Foster, who has rarely commented on the incident. “He shot him in order to impress me, and he had written letters to me, so it was a big moment in my life. The world fell apart, there were Secret Service people everywhere, I had bodyguards, and I had to be taken to a safe house.”

Donald Trump continued his stump on the campaign trail on Saturday ahead of his rematch with President Joe Biden in the first presidential debate of 2024 scheduled for Thursday. Trump hit his usual marks, from attacking migrants and border complaints to touting his role in erasing women’s reproductive rights by appointing Supreme Court justices who ended the federal right to abortion access, and some other truly wild stuff in between.

Jodie Foster, 61, recently opened up about a terrifying experience she encountered during her college years shortly after John Hinckley Jr.'s assassination attempt on then-President Ronald Reagan.
As many may recall, March 30, 1981, marked the day when Hinckley, aged 25, shot Reagan in Washington, D.C., reportedly in an attempt to impress Jodie Foster, who was an 18-year-old actress at the time. Hinckley was later acquitted based on mental illness and was committed to a hospital.
Following the attempted assassination, Jodie Foster said she experienced a "traumatic" experience at her college play when a man brought a gun into the theater.

The most direct metaphor in David Lynch’s canon arrives early on in 1986’s Blue Velvet. After an opening credits sequence set against blue velvet curtains and accompanied by Angelo Badalamenti’s swooning score, Lynch offers up a montage of classic Americana, including gleaming white picket fences, a fire truck with a dog, and roses that gleam with a feverish red hue. Bobby Vinton’s version of the title song serves as the soundtrack to these images, and, with this song, Lynch signals both his yearning for and disbelief in this idyllic world—a conflict in emotions that would drive his subsequent film and television productions. In case this conflict is lost on viewers, Lynch ends his montage with a father collapsing from a malady as he waters his front yard, and the camera homes in on blades of grass, pressing further into the ground until we can see black insects festering underneath the surface.

In "Caretaker," the 1995 pilot episode of "Star Trek: Voyager," the show's titular ship is instantly whisked across the galaxy by an ineffably powerful space alien called the Caretaker. It seems the Caretaker was scanning the entire galaxy looking for lifeforms that it might be able to reproduce with, hoping to produce a progeny to continue its work. Many years ago, the Caretaker's technology accidentally destroyed the planet of a gentle, innocent species called the Ocampa, and he'd been using his technology to care for the survivors ever since. The Ocampa now live sheltered underground, while the Caretaker needs an heir to take over caretaking duties before he dies in less than a day.
Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) recognizes that when the Caretaker dies, some local ruffians called the Kazon will instantly plunder his technology and potentially wreak galaxy-wide havoc. Janeway chooses to destroy the Caretaker's massive home satellite rather than...

In the opening section of Outstanding: A Comedy Revolution, you might be forgiven for thinking this is an extended Pride Month promo to breathe new life into Netflix’s 2022 special, Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration. But in a Q&a following the rousingly received opening-night screening at the Provincetown Film Festival, director Page Hurwitz clarified the chicken-and-the-egg situation, explaining that she produced the event at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, which assembled 22 prominent queer comics on the same bill, as a foundational building block for this documentary surveying the rich history of LGBTQ+ comedians.

After a relatively public first wave of production for Paul Thomas Anderson’s next feature across California, things have recently been kicking back up after a few quiet months. Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn were recently spotted in the northeast of San Diego at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, in scenes featuring high-speed cars, crashes, and gunplay as PTA is clearly making the most of his $115 million budget and IMAX release. Now, we have a new addition to the ensemble.
Benicio del Toro, who gave one of the best performances of his career as Sauncho Smilax, Esq. in PTA’s last Thomas Pynchon adaptation, Inherent Vice, will reteam with the director. The news was buried deep in a THR article about Hollywood layers noting under Steve Warren: “Clients Benicio del Toro and Leonardo DiCaprio will co-star in Paul Thomas Anderson’s next film — after del Toro finishes work on Wes Anderson’s The Phoenician Scheme.

As the competition series that revived the career and public image of Donald Trump, The Apprentice might be the most impactful -- and infamous -- reality show in TV history.
Seventeen years after it wrapped up its original run, the NBC series still occupies a surprisingly large place in our national consciousness.
In fact, it's the basis for an upcoming book by Variety co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh and a new movie from director Ali Abbasi.
The book will be available on June 18, and the movie will be in a theater near you on -- well, that's not quite clear.
You see, Abbasi's film -- aptly titled The Apprentice -- has yet to secure a distribution deal in the US.
With hot-button subject matter and an all-star cast that includes Sebastian Stan as Trump and Succession's Jeremy Strong as the infamous McCarthyite attorney Roy Cohn, it's the sort of film that...

On June 13, 1980, Warner Bros. bowed Stanley Kubrick’s psychological horror film The Shining in theaters nationwide. The film, starring Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall, went on to gross $47 million and endure perpetually as one of the titles routinely mentioned as among the scariest movies of all time. The Hollywood Reporter’s original review is below:
After viewing Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, I find myself wishing that Kubrick, like Graham Greene, would let us know when he’s being serious and when he’s merely providing us with “an entertainment.” The main problem that I had with this Warner release, based on Stephen King’s popular novel, is that I couldn’t decide whether Kubrick was trying to impress the hell out of us with all of his juggling of time, or simply trying to scare the hell out of us as Jack Nicholson runs berserk with an ax. Somehow,...

Many of the recurring faces on "The Simpsons" have the same voice: Harry Shearer. Alongside Hank Azaria, Shearer does more than double duty in playing the series' supporting cast. As a testament to his range, his roles run the gamut from nice guy Ned Flanders to milquetoast Principal Skinner (don't say Armin Tamzarian) to evil Mr. Charles Montgomery Burns, owner of the Springfield Nuclear Plant and Homer Simpson's boss.
Shearer is the definitive voice of Mr. Burns (he's been doing it for 30+ seasons), but he wasn't the first actor to voice the character. That would be the late Christopher Collins, who was briefly part of the "Simpsons" cast during its first season, which aired from 1989 to 1990. Collins voiced Burns in the following episodes: "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire," "Homer's Odyssey," "There's No Disgrace Like Home," and "The Telltale Head."
Shearer took over in the season 1 episode "Homer's Night Out.

Joe Dante's "Gremlins" is a one-of-a-kind blockbuster from an era when studios hadn't quite yet developed the formula for producing hit movies. In the early 1980s, executives under pressure to find projects capable of breaking the coveted $100 million domestic mark relied heavily on movie stars or bestselling books, but to strike gold you needed vision. That meant finding a visionary.
There were two 30-something film brats who fit this profile during that period: George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. And since Lucas was, at the moment, a two-franchise man with "Star Wars" and the just-taking-off Indiana Jones series, Spielberg, who'd just set up his production company Amblin Entertainment at Universal Pictures, was the closest thing to a Walt Disney alive and unfrozen in Hollywood.

Joe Biden stood on a cliff at Normandy on Friday to deliver a speech that emphasized the need to defend democracy, as he connected the heroism of D-Day 80 years ago to the present day.
“As we gather here today, it’s not just to honor those who showed such remarkable bravery that day June 6, 1944,” Biden said. “It’s to listen to the echo of their voices, to hear them, because they are summoning us, and they are summoning us now. They’re asking us, what will we do? They’re not asking us to scale these cliffs, but they’re asking us to stay true to what America stands for.”
The speech at Pointe du Hoc was in the same location where Ronald Reagan delivered a famous address on the 40th anniversary of D-Day, as the threat then was the Soviet Union.

What are the greatest action movies of all time? It’s a controversial question, isn’t it? Any time any publication or site puts out a new list of what they consider the best action movies of all time, it can’t help but generate a ton of controversy. Nevertheless, we here at JoBlo have decided to throw our hats into the ring with a list we really hope generates some nostalgia among our viewers but also encourages them to seek out the movies on this list that they may not have seen. But first, some may wonder where superhero movies are on this list. Given how broad that genre is, we decided to stick to old-school action, so we have left them off the list, as they deserve their own ranking. There are also a few absences from the list, notably some Jackie Chan films (like Police Story), with...

Undoubtedly, the Call of Duty (CoD) franchise is the crown jewel of the Fps franchise. Every year, Activsion gets a new developer, like Treyarch, and brings players a campaign to help tie together the franchises’ ever-expanding lore. It’s a known fact that every hero needs a good villain to fight, and over the past decade, the CoD franchise has had a variety of enemies.
From rogue soldiers to terrorists wanting to burn everything down, the antagonists of CoD games can be compared to action-movie villains. While we’ve seen some terrifying villains in the franchise, Activsion has completely dropped the ball by not bringing back one of the scariest forces we first fought in CoD World at War.

Veteran actor Dennis Quaid has announced his support for former President Donald Trump in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
Quaid, known for his roles in films like The Parent Trap and the upcoming biopic Reagan, shared his reasons for backing the Republican in an interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored.
Quaid, who had previously expressed reservations about the former president’s conduct, has now decided to support Trump and cited his performance in office as the primary factor. “As president, the only thing I liked about Trump was everything he did,” Quaid stated, with special praise for Trump’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic back in 2020.
The actor, who has described himself as an independent voter, said he initially hesitated to support Trump but has since changed his stance. “It just makes sense. I was ready not to vote for Trump until what I saw as — more than politics — I see a...

For some reason, there has yet to be a mainstream Hollywood feature film about Donald Trump dramatizing any aspect of Trump's life, with an actor portraying him.
There have been countless documentaries about Trump, both for him and against him, and various comedians have portrayed him, including Alec Baldwin and later James Austin Johnson on Saturday Night Live.
The Comey Rule, a 2020 Showtime miniseries based on the memoirs of former FBI director James Comey, starred Brendan Gleeson as the 45th president, opposite Jeff Daniels as Comey.
At the same time, quite a few feature films, like The Oath in 2018 and Irresistible and The Hunt in 2020, have attempted to make dramatic hay out of the political controversies of the Trump years.
However, those who have not featured a Trump-based character have not referenced him directly.

The Boys in the Boat (George Clooney)
This is, from start to finish, an underdog sports picture. Edgerton puts a welcome spin on the gruff-but-caring coach archetype, and Turner does the same with his lead character. Soft-spoken, stern, and handsome, this is a role someone like Ronald Reagan would have excelled at bringing to the screen some 80 years ago; Turner, luckily, is more interesting to look at and a better actor. Alexandre Desplat’s score is maybe the most playful thing about this film, and it works when it needs to. The race sequences are unquestionably Boys‘ highlight, Clooney making use of zoom lenses and well-placed cameras to capture the speed and fluidity of each competition. There is a real tension mined in these scenes,...

‘Reagan’: All we know about the upcoming biopic’s release date, plot, cast, characters and more(Photo Credit –IMDb)
The eagerly anticipated Ronald Reagan biopic “Reagan,” directed by Sean McNamara and featuring Dennis Quaid as the 40th President of the United States, is scheduled to open in theaters this August. “Reagan” is the first full-length biopic of the controversial president, who was in office for two terms between 1981 and 1989.
Since its initial announcement in 2010, “Reagan” has encountered several obstacles, such as delays resulting from Covid shutdowns and the SAG-AFTRA/WGA strikes. It’s interesting to remember that in 1960, Reagan spearheaded an actors’ strike while leading SAG.
Well, now that the biopic is all set to release, read below to get all the information about the upcoming McNamara’s historical biopic.

“From dusty small-town roots, to the glitter of Hollywood, and then on to commanding the world stage, Reagan is a cinematic journey of overcoming the odds,” the film’s synopsis reads. “Told through the voice of Viktor Petrovich, a former Kgb agent who followed Reagan’s ascent, Reagan captures the indomitable spirit of the American dream.”
Set against the backdrop of the Cold War, the trailer kicks off with Quaid, who portrays Reagan as an older man, saying, “There’s nothing a retired governor can do but a president, now he can do a thing or two.”

Director Sean McNamara‘s Reagan, the first full-length feature on the 40th U.S. president, is out with its first trailer.
A biopic starring Dennis Quaid and set against the backdrop of the Cold War, the film follows Reagan’s journey from his childhood in Dixon, Illinois, to Hollywood, and then on to the White House. It begins with an aging Petrovich (Jon Voight), now 90 years old, being visited by an up-and-coming Russian leader who wants to know how the Soviet Union was lost.
Petrovich, the spy who knows everything there is to know about Reagan, begins recounting the tale of his adversary: the man he mockingly nicknamed “The Crusader,” beginning in 1922, when 11-year-old Ronald Reagan faces his first life crisis.
Additional cast for Reagan includes Penelope Ann Miller as Nancy Reagan, Mena Suvari as Reagan’s first wife Jane Wyman, Lesley-Anne Down as Margaret Thatcher, David Henrie as teenage Reagan,...

Well, the first trailer for Dennis Quaid’s Ronald Reagan biopic has debuted. The actor plays the 40th President of the United States in the feature, which promises to span the major events of Reagan’s life, including his confrontation with childhood bullies, his acting career and time leading the Screen Actors Guild and his ascendant rise in politics bolstered by anti-communist rhetoric. Set to a cover of Tears for Fears’ ’80s hit “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” the trailer tracks how Reagan wanted to rule the free world — and did.
“I was a lifeguard on a river. And I learned how to read the currents — not just the ones on the surface, but also the ones deep underneath the water,” President Reagan says in the trailer, drawing a comparison to his own eye for geopolitical tensions. The footage also teases more well-known moments from the conservative President’s tenure,...

"There's nothing a retired governor can do about the Soviets..." ShowBiz Direct has revealed a trailer for a movie called Reagan, a brand new biopic about the 40th President of the United States of America. This will open in theaters at the end of August this summer. Actor Dennis Quaid stars as Ron, who worked as an actor before getting into politics. "I've always been told bits and pieces of the stories of Ronald Reagan's life, but this movie puts the whole story together. I've played quite a few real people over the years, and I like to play them from their point of view, without judgment. It was a big challenge for me to get behind the public persona of the man and also to move beyond my own feelings of admiration for him." Set against the backdrop of the Cold War, the film was shot in Oklahoma...

Don’t be confused about the title The Apprentice. This is not a movie version of the NBC reality TV series in any way, but instead a smart, sharp and surprising origin story of the man who hosted it. In this case the actual “apprentice” is Donald Trump, infamous real estate developer, former President of the United States and current presumed GOP nominee for 2024.
But the political Trump is not in Iranian-Danish director Ali Abbasi’s compelling film, which instead zeroes in on a specific period of Trump’s life in the early ’70s when he was in his 20s and struggling to make a name for himself in the world of real estate in New York City. But it isn’t just about him — it is equally focused on his unique relationship with his lawyer, the notorious Roy Cohn, often referred to as vicious, cruel, ruthless and sadistic, a...

Harry Shearer voices many characters on The Simpsons and was recently replaced as the voice of Dr. Hibbert.
In 2020, producers decided to have no longer white actors voice characters of color, a decision which also made Hank Azaria retire from voicing Apu Nahasapeemapetilon.
Shearer recently reflected on the change and who inspired Dr. Hibbert’s voice.
“Folk say the show has become woke in recent years and one of my characters has been affected,” Shearer said on The Times of London. “I voiced the Black physician, Dr. Hibbert, who I based on Bill Cosby. Back then he was known as the ‘whitest Black man on television.’ Then, a couple of years ago, I received an email saying they’d employed a Black actor, who then copied my voice. The result is a Black man imitating a white man imitating the whitest Black man on TV.”

Walton Goggins, the ghoulish antihero of Prime Video's Fallout series, has become an unexpected sex symbol with the show's success.
Undoubtedly, the reason is the character of Ghoul. Goggins combines a hardened survivalist's anarchic mind with a Hollywood cowboy's rustic stoicism.
He feels like Ronald Reagan channeling John Wayne, like a man at the end of his days who sticks around for one more horseback ride.
The resignation in his attitude drives his character, not to mention the characters around him who react to his infamy and monstrous appearance. He's the new face of anarchy and arguably the first mainstream character to embody the spirit of anarchy with such a genteel facade.
You must be in love with Cooper Howard, aka The Ghoul, because you've seen Walton Goggin's face many times.
He's been in countless movies since the 1990s, usually playing morally confused or at least ambiguous characters. He has...

40 years later, the original "A Nightmare on Elm Street" has more than earned its place in cinema history as a slasher classic. Written and directed by the late (and very much missed) Wes Craven, the 1984 horror film follows a group of teens from Springwood, Ohio -- which looks suspiciously like Los Angeles in several shots, but charmingly so -- as they begin dreaming of the same mysterious figure. This man, whose face is covered in burn marks and wears a glove armed with razor blades, is no shared figment of their imagination. He's Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund), the vengeful ghost of a local child murderer who now has the power to kill his victims in their sleep.
Why is he vengeful? Freddy, you see, was eventually arrested but avoided punishment after getting off on a legal technicality. In retaliation, his victims' loved ones hunted him down and burnt him to death,...

File this evergreen headline under “no alarms and no surprises.” After working together on There Will Be Blood, The Master, Inherent Vice, Junun, Phantom Thread, and Licorice Pizza, Jonny Greenwood has confirmed he’s already started to work on the score for the next feature from Paul Thomas Anderson.
“I’m incredibly lucky that Paul indulges me and gives me so much time to experiment and compose,” Greenwood tells The Guardian. “That’s not usually the case in Hollywood, where the soundtrack writers are often very far down the food chain, and are sometimes given only a couple of days to bash out a complete score.”
This will mark the first time a Greenwood score will be heard in IMAX theaters as PTA’s currently untitled film has been set for an August 8, 2025 wide release from WB. With a cast of Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Wood Harris,...
