Liu Jianchao Attends the Standing Committee Meeting of the Forum of Supporters of the Struggle Against Modern Practices of Neocolonialism-"For the Freedom of Nations"

Vladivostok, June 17th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended and delivered a speech here today at the meeting of the standing committee of Forum of Supporters of the Struggle Against Modern Practices of Neocolonialism-"For the Freedom of Nations".


Liu said, in recent years, the collective rise of the Global South has become an independent political force in the international community, promoting a more balanced international power structure. In a world marked by intertwined changes and turmoil, countries of the Global South need to strengthen solidarity and cooperation more than ever. As a member of the Global South, China is committed to steadfastly safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of the Global South, speaking up for the Global South countries, and working with all countries to promote world multipolarization in a direction that meets the aspirations of all peoples, thereby creating highlights of the Global South in global governance.

Liu said, 70 years ago, China first fully proposed the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, which have now become important norms governing international relations. As China strives for modernization and a community with a shared future for mankind, China will steadfastly pursue an independent foreign policy of peace, uphold true multilateralism, safeguard international fairness and justice, and promote common development worldwide, continually contributing Chinese wisdom and strength to the progress of human civilization.

Liu said, the CPC is willing to deepen exchanges with political parties and organizations from all countries, continually expanding areas of common understanding and shared interests, and advancing the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind. We should strive to create a development pattern that is inclusive, balanced, coordinated, mutually beneficial, and leads to shared prosperity for all. We should actively implement the Global Development Initiative to make global development fairer, effective, and coordinated. Firmly adhering to the concept of win-win outcomes for all, we should implement the Global Security Initiative in an in-depth manner, and blaze a trail of security of that benefits all. Respecting and preserving the diversity of world civilizations, we should promote the Global Civilization Initiative, foster coexistence and common prosperity through exchanges and mutual learning. By practicing true multilateralism, we should adhere to the principle of planning together, building together and benefiting together, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of all countries, especially developing ones, to promote a more just and reasonable international order.


Dmitry Medvedev, Chairman of the United Russia Party, presided over the meeting. Over ten representatives from political parties of more than ten countries, including Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, National Chairperson of the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front and Minister of Defence and War Veteran Affairs, Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee, and Emilio Lozada García, Head of the International Relations Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) attended and addressed the event. Leaders of political parties and political heavyweights from various countries expressed that colonialism had brought profound suffering to many developing countries, therefore efforts must be done to resolutely oppose all forms of neo-colonialism. Political parties are key forces for the development of each country and should strengthen unity and cooperation, practice multilateralism, oppose hegemonism and interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states. Political parties should promote the establishment of a multipolar world, jointly uphold the common interests of the Global South, and defend international fairness and justice.
