Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus out!

Meet the divine, mortal, dateable pantheon of Stray Gods

July 28 2023

In Summerfall Studios’ upcoming role-playing musical Stray Gods (arriving August 10), your fate in the lead role of Grace is intertwined with a pantheon of Greek gods and modern-day mortals. The choices you make—and the music you make together—will determine whether your story with each takes on notes of tragedy, comedy, or even romance.

Four of these characters can play more than just a supporting role in Grace’s tale. Meet the quartet of earthly, divine—and eminently dateable—characters who will be central to your odyssey. Will they be friends, foes, or lovers? You decide.

Your Best Friend, Freddie

The members of Grace’s band seem to come and go, but Freddie’s been there since the beginning and likely will be there until the bitter end. She’s Grace’s best friend, a smartass who will crack wise in even the most inappropriate situations, and a card-carrying geek…which happens to include an interest in the mythology of Ancient Greece. So there’s no way Freddie’s not going to join Grace on this adventure, even if she is just a regular “mortal.”

Meet Apollo, God of the Sun

There are drawbacks to being the God of Prophecy. There are all the bad things which happened you believe you should have seen beforehand…and, far worse, all the bad things you did foresee but didn’t stop because you knew the alternative was worse. The past haunts Apollo in a more personal way than any other Idol. He surrendered his position of leadership to Athena, and has spent his countless years a wandering and lost soul, marveling at a mortal society which has outstripped even his visions of the future.

The Delightfully Dubious Pan

He’s gone by many names in the past, but these days Pan likes to keep it simple. His name means “all,” and that’s how he likes to think of himself: he’s all things to all people. Whatever you desire, that’s what he’ll be—or what he can provide. He’s the amoral lurker in the shadows, the informant who has the latest word on Idols society, and everyone knows he’s just waiting for the right moment to strike…provided he doesn’t get distracted by the latest pretty thing to enter his orbit.

Persephone, Rejected Goddess of the Underworld

Everyone knows the story of how Hades, dark lord of the Underworld, abducted Persephone to become his queen. What’s most annoying to Persephone is that everyone also believes that’s where the story ends. For her, that’s where her story began. She’s slain her husband, usurped his realm, and lost it all only to begin to build it all again off in a distant and strange land. Persephone is a figure of notoriety in Idols society who is utterly convinced the only person anyone should ever rely on is themselves.
