Waiver of Undisbursed Funds Factor under IHBG Formula for FY21 (September 30, 2020)

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 National Emergency, Tribes and TDHEs have experienced delays in expending their Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) program funding. To provide relief to these Tribes and TDHEs, HUD is waiving the Undisbursed Funds Factor at 24 CFR 1000.342 with respect to the fiscal year (FY) 2021 IHBG program allocation formula. The waiver provided in this Notice only affects the FY 2021 IHBG formula allocations and does not apply to IHBG formula allocations in years beyond FY 2021.

Dear Lender Letter 2021-07 (July 30, 2021)
The purpose of this Dear Lender Letter (DLL) is to inform Lenders of the extension of the foreclosure-related eviction moratorium for an additional period through September 30, 2021, and to remind them of the expiration of the foreclosure moratorium.

Dear Lender Letter 2021-06 (June 30, 2021)
The purpose of this Dear Lender Letter (DLL) is to inform Lenders of further extensions for the foreclosure and eviction moratoriums (July 31,2021), loan processing flexibilities, and the Borrower’s ability to request a COVID-19 Forbearance. This DLL also broadens Borrower eligibility for COVID-19 Loss Mitigation Options and expands COVID-19 Forbearance periods for certain Borrowers.

Eviction Moratorium to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) extended the Order banning evictions for certain renters until July 31, 2021. The CDC Order is a temporary eviction moratorium to protect public health and prevent further spread of COVID-19. See additional resources below.

 


 

Unit and Property Inspections

As of June 2021, HUD increased in-person property and unit inspections. Inspections help ensure rental homes in HUD-assisted properties are being safely maintained. During the pandemic, inspectors are following safety protocols informed by the CDC (which includes wearing proper protection and following other related safety measures).

Helping Tenants Access their Economic Impact Payment

Join the Office of Public and Indian Housing along with guest speakers from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities and United Way as they provide an overview of the Economic Impact Payment (EIP or stimulus payment) and provide suggestions on how Public Housing Authority’s and Tribes or Tribally Designated Housing Entities can help families and individuals access their stimulus payment. Many families and individuals may be missing out on accessing their EIP either because they aren’t required to file taxes, may not know how to apply, or may be homeless.
