Eating Out & Local Produce

Home 9 Eating Out & Local Produce

Helmsley and the Howardian Hills have been named Most Exciting Food Destination by the Good Food Guide 2024!

Whether you are looking for a celebratory feast or food to fuel your adventure there are an array of pubs, cafes and local shops, offering tasty, and often locally sourced, food.

Yorkshire is famed for its local produce and the Howardian Hills area is no exception. Farmers’ markets are held monthly in Malton (named Yorkshire’s Food Capital), while the village markets at Hovingham (held on the first Saturday in the month) and Husthwaite (quarterly) have been very successfully reinstated in recent years. For more details on the facilities available in each village visit our Active Map.

By shopping locally and buying local produce you can help the local rural economy as well as reduce the distance goods need to be transported. Visit the GreentravellerNorth York Moors National Park and Visit Ryedale websites for suggestions of where to eat and source local produce and crafts.
