The 20 Best Luxury Sheets, According to House Beautiful Editors
We tested sets in linen, percale, flannel, cashmere, and more.
There are several elements to help you get a good night's sleep, from your wind-down routine to the quality of your bedding. After all, having a comfortable mattress, a supportive pillow (or a few), and the very best luxury sheets certainly help with a peaceful slumber. But, what makes a sheet set feel luxurious in the first place? To us, it's a combination of texture, quality, and price point. The set should feel good the moment it hits your skin. At their best, they're so soft it's like magic and at their worst, they're just-fine sheets for a guest room. The fabric, too, should be durable and constructed as to avoid pilling, tearing, or any of that less-than-best feel.
Shop Our Top Picks
Where does one buy the best luxury sheets, though? I personally embarked on a weeks-long mission in testing a variety of brands and materials to help determine that answer. Let me start by saying that I’ve never made my bed this much in my life. But, it was worth it because I have trouble falling asleep, so any additional accessories that help me get settled in at night are welcomed. I'm a hot sleeper, I toss and turn, and melatonin stays on my nightstand, so you know I'll be picky about what goes on my bed.
In addition to my test of flat sheets, fitted sheets, and pillowcases for my queen-sized mattress, I also consulted my fellow House Beautiful editors for their discerning picks. Together, we found the sheet sets worth the luxury description and the price tag. We tried out every style, from sheets with a washed effect that makes them feel lived-in to ultra-cooling picks for hot sleepers like myself. We even found extra deep pockets to fit any mattress or mattress topper, and the softest sheets to revamp your bedroom.
Shop our picks for the best luxury sheets below, and once your new sheets arrive, wash them, make the bed, then draw the curtains closed for the best night's sleep ever.

Pros
Offers the most color options out of all sheet sets I tried
Super gentle against skin
Drapes well over the mattress
Cons
Wrinkles easily when I'm sleeping, laying, and sitting on them
"I'm an incredibly hot sleeper, and can't stand the feeling of waking up to sticky sheets. These sheets from Buffy, made from moisture-wicking eucalyptus, gave me the most refreshing sleep I've had in my life," Associate Shopping Editor Janae McKenzie says. "The first quality that impressed me about these sheets was how well they shifted with my constant tossing and turning. Even as they gathered underneath me, I was never uncomfortable.
There's also a gorgeous sheen on these that already felt like such an upgrade from my Amazon sheets from the moment I made my bed with them. They're lightweight and breathable, without that gauzy texture that other airy sheets have. I genuinely looked forward to sinking into them at the end of the day. Buffy sheets were my first test, and I was honestly sad to switch them out during my research. And after weeks of trying other sheets, these still ended up being the best ones for me.
I also tested Buffy's Cloud pillows under the pillowcases in this set, and was impressed with how well they held their shape, even as I bunched them up under my neck. I was convinced I’d have horrible neck pain any time I slept on a pillow that wasn’t the butterfly shape I have for side sleepers. Imagine how shocked I was by how comfortable and long I slept."
Colorways: 25 | Sizes: Full, Queen, King, Cal King | Materials: Eucalyptus (lyocell) | Availability: Available as a set, fitted sheet and pillowcases available separately
Pros
“Long” and “Short" tags on fitted sheets for making the bed
OEKO-TEX certified against harmful chemicals
Weighted for year-round comfort
Cons
Reviewers say pillowcases are a bit small
Brooklinen topped our list of the best bedding stores, so it stands to reason that their signature silky sheets would be the best in affordable luxury. The sateen finish has a certain luster to it, and the tightly woven sheets are built to last. "They're silky to the touch without feeling too slippery, and I prefer them over linen sheets in summer since they're just as cooling without looking wrinkled all the time," Commerce Editor Samantha Jones says. "I've had them for a little over a year now and haven't noticed any pilling, loose threads, or snagging."
Colorways: 11 | Sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, and California King | Materials: Organic cotton sateen | Availability: Available as a set, flat sheet and fitted sheet available separately
Pros
Sheets get softer over time
Wide size variety
Extra deep pockets
Cons
All neutral colors
Associate Shopping Editor Jessica Cherner has been sleeping on this Boll and Branch set for over two years. Despite their luxury feel, they require very little to maintain their quality, because the last thing you need is extra fuss in your bedtime routine. "I could sit on 10 different brands's sheet sets and still tell you which ones are Boll & Branch," Cherner says. "They're extremely soft and feel so luxurious. I will say: They're on the thicker side, so I don't really use them in the summer, even with air conditioning, because I definitely sleep hot. This is easily one of my favorite brands."
Colorways: 20 | Sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, Cal King, Split King | Materials: Organic long-staple cotton | Availability: Available as a set, all pieces available separately
Pros
Earthy, muted colorways
Lightweight flax linen
Drapes well across the mattress
Cons
Can shed a bit after washing
You'll not only find The Citizenry's stonewashed linen bedding in House Beautiful editor bedrooms, but you'll also find it in Blake Lively's. We can't blame her either—the luxe yet lived-in look of these sheets is such an elegant, airy choice. "These sheets are made in a family-run textile mill in Portugal, and you can feel the quality," Senior Commerce Editor Heath Owens says. "They're my favorite linen sheets that I've tried! They feature a really lightweight weave, which keeps them breezy and airy instead of scratchy. "
Colorways: 15 | Sizes: Full, Queen, King, Cal King | Materials: Stonewashed linen | Availability: Available as a set, fitted sheet and pillowcases available separately
Pros
Made from ultra-rare, organic cotton
Pill-resistant fibers
Extra detailed stitching
Cons
At the highest price point on our list
What could be more luxurious than sheets so soft and stunning, they were worn on the Met Gala red carpet? The bedding is woven from the rarest extra-long-staple cotton that you can find in the U.S., and Cherner felt every bit of the smooth fiber. "These are the softest sheets I've ever slept on," Cherner says. "They're also the perfect thickness—not too thin or overly heavy." After sleeping on them in warmer weather, Cherner felt that they weren't "particularly cooling," but they didn't trap heat either.
Colorways: Three | Sizes: Queen, King, Cal King | Materials: Supima cotton | Availability: Available as a set, pillowcases available separately
Pros
Plush cashmere, lighter than flannel
More casual look
Flat sheet is optional
Cons
Fitted sheet elastic is not the strongest
A cashmere sweater is one of the coziest, most luxe things you can wear, so cashmere bedding you can sleep in every night is definitely taking it up a notch. "Though I was initially drawn to this set for the cashmere—because, hello, who wouldn't want to snuggle up in a bunch of cashmere?—I was initially concerned these sheets would be too insulating since I run warm when I sleep," contributing writer Kelsey Mulvey says. "Fortunately, all my concerns were put to rest (literally) because it was love at first slumber. These sheets are the best of both worlds: They have the softness of cashmere but the lightness and breathability of your favorite percale."
Colorways: Four | Sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, and Cal King | Materials: Cotton cashmere | Availability: Set is available with or without a flat sheet
Pros
Available in different pillow and duvet densities
Matte finish with sateen feel
Luxe piping along the border
Cons
Must buy separate flat sheet
Among the sheets Cherner has tested, this minimalist pick from Parachute is one of her favorites, including the matching duvet. "If I had to describe what they feel like using bedding terms, I'd say it's somewhere between sateen and jersey: They're thin and airy like sateen, but they're unbelievably soft and do have that T-shirt feel to them," Cherner says. Unlike typical sateen sheets, these have a matte finish, so if that shiny look isn't your preferred aesthetic, here's your chance to still get that silkiness.
Colorways: Three | Sizes: Full, Queen, King, Cal King | Materials: Organic cotton sateen | Availability: Set does not include flat sheet
Pros
Made from moisture-wicking bamboo fibers
Corner bands for extra stability on fitted sheet
Silky feel is good for sensitive skin
Cons
Reviewers say lint gathers easily in the dryer
There are lots of benefits to bamboo bedding, but that breathable, smooth feeling that keeps you cool throughout that night will transport you. “Cariloha resort sheets are so incredibly luxe that I'm on my second pair," Senior Commerce Manager Mackenzie Dunn says. "They remind me of beautiful hotel bedding. These bamboo sheets are richly soft, have a sateen finish, and work for both cold and hot sleepers. Just beware not to over dry them in your machine. In my experience, they last best when they are hung to dry.”
Colorways: Five | Sizes: Queen, King, Cal King, Split King | Materials: Bamboo lyocell | Availability: Available as a set, pillowcases available separately
Pros
Subtle patterned colorways
Lightweight fabric
Made from anti-static linen
Cons
Sheds fibers for the first few washes
For the casual look and airy feel of linen, this set is one of the most stylish options. Linen sheets also get softer with every wash, so over time, these sheets will get worn in and even cozier. "I love that Bed Threads’s French flax linen bedding arrives pre-washed and buttery soft, but the wide range of colors and patterns is what really drew me in. I have the charcoal set, and the moody option instantly elevated my space,” Associate Editor Kelly Allen says.
Colorways: 25 | Sizes: Full, Queen, King, Cal King | Materials: Eucalyptus (lyocell) | Availability: Available as a set, fitted sheet and pillowcases available separately
Pros
Hypoallergenic for sensitive skin
Breathable bamboo material
Thinner material is still machine washable
Cons
Bamboo bedding wrinkles really easily
Both Cherner and Dunn consider themselves Cozy Earth devotees. After Cherner's test, she found that she loved how gentle the fabric was on her hair and skin. “Temperature-regulating and buttery soft, these sheets work for both my husband (a hot sleeper) and me (a cold one)," Dunn says. "I’ve tested a lot of sheets and what sets these apart—in addition to the cloud-like feel—is their oversized fit. The flat sheet drapes beautifully over our queen-sized bed with plenty of room for two people to be cozy, without ever fighting for coverage.”
Colorways: 17 | Sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, Cal King, Split King | Materials: Bamboo viscose | Availability: Available as a set, pillowcases available separately
Pros
Velvety-soft
Sturdy construction
Super wrinkle-resistant
Cons
Needs to off-gas a bit on opening
"Truthfully, I was dreading testing flannel sheets because I sweat so much at night. The idea of purposely choosing sheets to make you warmer was not appealing to this hot sleeper, but imagine my surprise when they were one of my top picks," McKenzie says.
"These sheets have a brushed finish that's super soft at first touch while the pillowcases cradled my head so nicely. The best way I can describe these sheets is that they are similar to you wearing the comfiest sweater from your closet. These sheets are also super well-constructed because the tightly woven fabric is resistant to pilling. Despite its sturdiness, the fabric is the furthest thing from stiff. The fitted and flat sheets laid incredibly smooth when I made the bed—not a crease or wrinkle in sight.
Although Saatva's line has single-handedly turned me on to using flannel sheets, I think these will be too hot to sleep in come summertime. However, they gracefully toe the line between warm and unbearable for the winter."
Colorways: Two | Sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, Cal King, Split King | Materials: 100 percent long-staple cotton, yarn-dyed | Availability: Available as a set only
Pros
Gives you that effortlessly luxe look
Gets softer with each wash
"Long" and "short" labels are helpful when making the bed
Cons
The linen fabric is on the thinner side
For the sleepers who love a wrinkled, lived-in aesthetic but don't want the discomfort of bunched up sheets, Brooklinen's Washed Linen line is your winner. They are breezy and lightweight. The “washed” effect makes all the difference because it takes linen fabric, which can be scratchy, and makes it feel super soft. This also does wonders for its texture, giving it a crushed look. "I honestly could've just slept on the fitted sheets alone. Aesthetically-speaking, this set, which I got in the beautiful Raisin shade, also created my dream bedspread that I've seen all over Pinterest. This is how linen sheets should feel and look, IMO," McKenzie says.
Colorways: 11 | Sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, Cal King | Materials: 100 percent European Flax | Availability: Available as a set, all pieces available separately
Pros
Extra silky on skin
Super breathable for hot nights
The tags help you make your bed quicker
Cons
Wrinkles easily when you're on them
"From the moment I took these sheets out of their package, they were cool to the touch," McKenzie says. "At first I chalked it up to the night air, but then I put them to the ultimate test by sleeping in them in my pre-war NYC apartment with a strong radiator that makes the room feel like a sauna. They kept me cool throughout the night despite the odds stacked against them.
The silky-smooth texture of these sheets evokes sheer joy just by you touching it. I called these my 'starfish-ready sheets,' because during my first night sleeping on these, I wanted to spread out and forego my comforter all together. For a minor yet thoughtful added detail, the fitted sheet has tags that say 'You Got This' and corner-specific labels like 'bottom left' vs. just 'bottom.' This was a godsend when making the bed, which I took more seriously after constantly making and unmaking my bed for this test. The tags might read a bit cheesy to some, but hear me out. My bed is in a corner, so having my sheets tell me 'we make a good team' as I wrangle a fitted sheet over the mattress is honestly a nice touch."
Colorways: Nine | Sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, Cal King, Split King | Materials: 100 percent bamboo rayon | Availability: Sheets available as set only, pillowcases available separately
Pros
Simple and clean look
The sheets are crisp and unfussy
Made with the environment in mind
Cons
Traps heat a little easier than the other sheets
For those who want luxury sheets without a fussy look to them, try Coyuchi's Cotton Soft Washed set. "These were classic cotton sheets that reminded me of my childhood bedroom, but with that major grown-up upgrade," McKenzie says. "Of all the designs I tried, this set's pattern is my favorite thanks to the narrow lines that made my bed look clean.
They're also not so luxe and delicate that you’re anxious to exist on them or get them dirty. The sheet set is soft, but to quote my partner who also slept on them, 'doesn’t insist upon itself.' Additionally, I like that the brand is committed to eco-conscious luxury. These sheets are woven in collaboration with the California Cotton & Climate Coalition. The organization uses regenerative cotton farming that gives nutrients back to the soil it's farmed from."
Colorways: Three | Sizes: Queen, King, Cal King | Materials: 100 percent California cotton | Availability: Sheets available as set only, pillowcases available separately
Pros
Wrinkle-resistant
Great for guest rooms
Labeled sides for when you make the bed
Cons
Require a first wash
Cashmere sheets sounds like the height of luxury, and Brooklinen's Heathered Cashmere option envelopes you in a sea of coziness. It is slightly heavier than linen fabric, but much softer and warmer without making you feel suffocatingly hot. When you take them out of the package, they're slightly scratchy (endearing in a sweater but not so much in sheets) but after the first wash, they feel like your grandmother's blanket. "In my opinion, these are the perfect guest bedroom sheets because they look gorgeous and inviting year round. The high-quality bedding can stand up to heavy foot traffic, another plus," McKenzie says.
Colorways: Eight | Sizes: Full, Queen, King, Cal King | Materials: 95 percent cotton, five percent cashmere | Availability: Sheets available as set only, pillowcases available separately
Pros
Hotel quality-like sheets
Has subtle detailing
Oversized sheets
Cons
Pillowcases stained easily (from the dye on my bonnet)
That feeling of staying at a nice hotel and immediately flopping onto crisp white sheets in a cool room? Get ready to have that every night with this Sferra set. "The flat sheet was big, measuring 96" x 114" for a queen (the average is about 92" x 102"), but this is great because you won't have to fight your partner for the sheet at night. I love the colorful detailing and trim, too, for a subtle pop of color," McKenzie says.
"Since the Estate collection doesn't have a fitted sheet, I paired the pieces from this line with its Grande Hotel fitted sheet made of the same cotton percale material. At first, this has a more stiff plasticky feel, more like a mattress protector than a bottom sheet. There's also a bit of a smell coming fresh out of the package, so I let it breathe before I slept on it. With time and a few washes, the sheets get more comfortable while staying crisp."
Colorways: 10 | Sizes: Twin, Full/Queen, King | Materials: 100 percent long-staple cotton percale | Availability: Estate flat sheet and pillowcases available separately
Pros
Feels lived-in very quickly
High quality, silky fabric
Extra deep fitted sheet pockets
Cons
Pillowcases are a bit scratchy
Calling all quiet luxury fans! "These are the sheets I picture one of the Roys from Succession having in their lush penthouse apartments," McKenzie says. "It has a lovely sheen and is very well-constructed. The neutral color and shiny fabric does make it a bit difficult to tell which way is up, but every side feels fit for royalty." The brand says the sheets are woven from the 'longest-staple organic cotton that can possibly be grown,' and the result is a super-silky fabric that drapes beautifully. That said, they are so smooth to the point of being slippery, so watch out my fellow tossers and turners.
Colorways: 13 | Sizes: Full, Queen, King, Cal King, Split King | Materials: 100 percent longest-staple organic cotton | Availability: Sheets available as set only, pillowcases available separately
Pros
Strong elastic on fitted sheet
Works great as summer sheets
Eco-friendly material
Cons
Slightly scratchy at first
For eco-conscious shoppers, hemp sheets are a great alternative to traditional cotton options as hemp requires less water usage to grow. The feel of Tuft and Needle's 100 percent hemp sheets are very similar to traditional linen. It also dries quickly, so these are great sheets for any summer night sweats. The bright blue and yellow colorways will match the season too!
"I did find the 100 percent hemp fabric to be a bit too scratchy on my skin, and preferred hemp blends with other, softer materials like bamboo," McKenzie notes. "But for those who prefer the feel of a more natural fiber and want a durable, more earth-friendly alternative to cotton that maintains the airiness of linen sheets, this will be a great fit."
Colorways: Four | Sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, Cal King | Materials: 100 percent hemp | Availability: Sheets available as set only, pillowcases available separately
Pros
Durable
Feels refreshing when you lay on them
No off-gassing needed
Cons
Only comes in one color
These crisp cotton percale sheets only come in a bright white, so this might be better for the minimalist homeowner than the one who prefers a maximalist style. "In my opinion, percale sheets work best as a set, so use a flat sheet along with the fitted sheet and a duvet cover or comforter of your choice," McKenzie says. "The fairly cool fabric doesn't trap odor either, so you always feel like you're jumping into fresh sheets every night."
Colorways: One | Sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, Cal King, Split King | Materials: 100 percent certified extra-long Egyptian cotton | Availability: Available as a set, all pieces available separately
Pros
Hypoallergenic
Extra deep pockets
Biodegradable
Cons
Lint gathers easily on the sheets
The moisture-wicking properties of bamboo and earth-friendly properties of hemp join forces in this sheet set from Ettitude, creating the best of both worlds. For those mindful of their ecological impact, the packaging will show you the size of your carbon footprint upon purchasing the sheets. "I would recommend this bamboo-hemp alternative for the linen sheet devotees, as this set was the closest to that airy quality," McKenzie says. "Even on my sweatier nights, I felt fresh and clean in these sheets. Plus, the look of these sheets on the bed is effortlessly laidback, and it doesn't hurt that these were easy to make the bed with, too."
Colorways: Three | Sizes: Queen, King, Cal King | Materials: 70 percent bamboo lyocell, 30 percent hemp | Availability: Sheets available as set only, pillowcases available separately
