Sometimes when we write reviews, the brands we're testing kindly send us the products, but for my Quince bedding review, I actually bought everything myself before I realized I'd be reviewing my products for House Beautiful. Here's why: When some people move to a new home, they like to bring every single thing from their former place to their new one to minimize any unnecessary expenses. Others, however, use their move as an excuse to replace the perfectly good products they already have. Unfortunately for my credit card, I fall into the latter category.

When I moved into my New York City apartment a few weeks ago, I tossed almost all of my years-old bedding away. I wanted all of my new bedding to be from the same place, boast an affordable price tag, but not skimp on quality. Enter Quince, which has quickly become my go-to spot for pretty much everything. I have cashmere sweaters from Quince, carry-on luggage from Quince, and now, bedding from Quince.

I bought a duvet cover and three different sets of sheets. No one really needs three sets, but I like having different weaves and fabrics for different seasons. It's now been two weeks, and I have some thoughts on each and every one of my Quince belongings. First, though, let's address some of the internet's most burning questions about the brand.

What Makes Quince So Good?

To me, Quince is a brand that seems too good to be true: It's highly luxurious (just look at the materials used for proof) and also very affordable. I figured there has to be a catch, but there really isn't one. The brand has taken all of the luxury markup out of its process (both when it comes to manufacturing and purchasing), which is why even the cashmere isn't exorbitantly expensive. Also, as a minimalist, I love Quince because everything is so simple. You'll never find anything brightly colored or aggressively patterned here.

Why Is Quince So Affordable?

According to Quince's website, the direct-to-consumer model is mostly responsible for the brand's affordability. It's not because the brand makes their wares with cheap materials, if that's what you were thinking. Instead, it sources its products directly from the manufacturers (everything is also made in ethically-minded factories), eliminating the more traditional supply chain that involves warehousing, wholesaling, and distributing.

Now, let's move onto the products themselves.

I bought this out of necessity more than I did out of want. I moved in with my boyfriend, who has always used a duvet. I, however, have only ever slept with a blanket and a quilt, so we compromised and got a duvet. In case you were wondering, the duvet insert is also from Quince! First, let me just say that the duvet is amazing. It's the premium down comforter, so if you sleep warm, this may not be for you, but I like being comfortable (not warm and not cold), so I love it.

As for the duvet cover, I spent a solid three days researching before pulling the trigger. I bought the linen bamboo one because I wanted something that looks like linen but is a bit softer and less prone to wrinkles. When I tell you that I read every single review of every single Quince duvet cover, I mean it. All of the reviews led me to the linen bamboo one, which, as its name implies, is a blend of the two materials. You get the cooling quality of both: the softness from the bamboo and the look of the linen. It also has ties on the inside to secure the comforter to the duvet cover and a row of buttons on the side to keep the duvet cover closed. These elements work together to keep the down duvet in place.

Full disclosure: I do not love linen sheets, but after a few colleagues raved about it, especially in the summer, I bought it. I slept on these sheets for a full week before making any judgments, and while I was pleasantly surprised, these still aren't my favorite, but not because they aren't good. It's simply because I prefer super-soft sheets like pure bamboo (I have Cozy Earth's bamboo sheets and love them). The linen sheets are softer than linen clothing, which feels a bit scratchy to me, but they're definitely not silky-smooth. They also wrinkle a lot after sleeping on them for just one day.

That said, I slept on these during the dreaded the 2024 Heat Dome that drenched the Midwest and Northeast in truly tortuous temperatures, and I have to admit: I felt comfortable. The linen sheet set, which includes a fitted sheet and two pillowcases, is breathable and cooling (a natural quality of linen). Feel free to buy the set with a flat sheet, too, which I did.

I knew I'd like these because I have a set of bamboo sheets from Cozy Earth and literally haven't used my Brooklinen sateen sheets since. In fact, the sateen didn't even get to come to my new apartment (I gave them to a friend; I didn't throw them out!). Quince's bamboo sheets are a little thinner than what I'm used to, but that's one of the reasons I like them. I don't think I'll be using them much in the winter because they're not very warm, so I plan on using them all summer. These sheets are so great because they have a tiny bit of stretch to them, which makes them even softer. What makes them so soft is the fact that they're made from 100 percent viscose bamboo (the pulp), which is a bit more luxurious than rayon.

I've been a percale gal for as long as I can remember. It's what I slept on in my childhood home and well into my adult life. Although I would call myself a bamboo convert these days, I'll revisit my percale set on colder days. The percale set is Quince's best-selling, and after sleeping on these for a year (I actually bought them last winter), I can understand why. They're marketed as hotel-worthy sheets, and as a former travel writer who has slept on my fair share of luxury hotel sheets, I can confirm that these could be in the most expensive suites in the world.

They're thick, crisp organic cotton, so if you tend to get warm in your sleep, these may not be for you. Otherwise, you'll love them as much as I do because they really do make your whole sleep experience feel more elevated. Additionally, if you change your mind months later and want to return the sheets, Quince has a full year return policy for its bedding products.

Is Quince Bedding Worth Buying?

The short answer is yes because you get the best of both worlds: luxury materials at an affordable price point. As you may have gleamed from my Quince haul, I am a fan of the brand, but if I had to pick a favorite bedding product, it would be the bamboo linen duvet cover, which also happens to be the product I was most nervous about. After all, I knew I didn't like linen, but I figured that because it's also made from bamboo, I could like it. Not only do I like it, it's my favorite bedding! It's so soft and is the dreamiest color (it's such a pale gray that, from afar, it almost looks white).

If you're not in the market for a duvet cover, though, go with the percale sheets. They're classic in all the right ways and aim to please, so if you have specific taste and want to get something fail-proof, go percale. On the other hand, if you know you're a fan of linen, get the linen sheets. They're cooling and breathable and feature that typical linen weave people love. No matter what you get from Quince though, you will adore it.
