When it comes to Christmas decor, there's no shortage of stylistic inspiration to look to. While we love the classic feel of a traditional red-and-green color scheme, we're equally as taken with modern riffs, personalized touches, and unique color combinations. So, as we polish off the last of the Thanksgiving leftovers and turn to the winter season, we're setting our sights on the Christmas decoration to be done. What looks will deck the most halls this year? From natural elements to bold colors, there's lots of great design in store. Here are the Christmas decor trends that look to be big in 2022. Early Decorations

"The Christmas trend I'm seeing is um—early," says designer Jenny Brown. "I don't have a wreath yet and I'm being shamed by my neighbors!" It's true: with an early Thanksgiving, many took to breaking out the boughs before the end of November. This included the Bidens, who unveiled Christmas decorations in the White House earlier this week.

Au Naturel

Several designers point to natural decor as being de riguer this season. In a home by designer Lisa Hilderbrand, pinecones and dried leaves add just enough texture to the original 1903 mantel without detracting from the millwork.

Seeing Blue

"I'm seeing lots of blue incorporated into the red and green this year," says designer Jennifer Barron. "Especially soft, blue ribbon." Next Wave designer Clary Bosbyshell made a statement with the hue in an elegant front door design created by Mary Delia Designs for Bosbyshell's own home. There's no better first impression!

Niki Papadopoulos of Mark Williams Design predicts a turn to the outdoor this season: "I'm seeing a lot more focus on the exterior decor this year," she says. "More lights, more garlands, etc!" Lisa Hilderbrand nailed this look with garlands draped over her outdoor dining pavilion and wreaths acting as centerpieces.

Unconventional Colors

"I've seen lots of non-traditional colors being used for Christmas this year," says House of Drennan founder Rebecca Bridges. Designer Nikki Klugh is no stranger to this look—she selects a different scheme for her tree each year. Pictured is a blue-and-gold palette from a few years ago.

Muted Tones

"I'm predicting rust and burgundy over red, with natural wood accents," says Marie Flanigan. Designer Kelly Deck turned to burgundy, copper, and warm wood to create an elegantly festive vibe in the home of Kimberly Jones.

Designer Shawna Underwood is looking to touches of velvet ribbon incorporated with ornaments this year. Emily Sturgess agrees: "I'm seeing a return to classics like red velvet ribbon, candles in the window, and tartan on the table," she says. We love the oversized velvet bows adorning one of three trees in the White House's China Room for the season.
