The Actors Hall of Fame Foundation has pacted with Ovation TV to televise for the first time the foundation’s induction special featuring 15 honored film, TV and theater stars.
The latest inductees will be feted during the 2015 Actors Hall of Fame tribute on Ovation TV on Oct. 10, 2015. “This will not be a ‘traditional award show.’ There are enough of those already!” Rusty Citron, president of The Actors Hall of Fame Foundation, said Monday in a statement.
“We wanted to partner with Ovation TV because, as the foremost arts broadcast network, they understand that an actor who has achieved this level of success deserves the respect and honor worthy of their accomplishments,” he added. Fifteen actors, yet to be named, will be inducted this year into the Actors Hall of Fame.
They will join a list of past honorees that includes Robert De Niro, Judi Dench, Robert Duvall, Kirk Douglas, Morgan Freeman, Gene Hackman, Olivia de Havilland, Hal Holbrook, Anthony Hopkins, James Earl Jones, Angela Lansbury, William H. Macy and Maggie Smith.
Inductees into the Actors Hall of Fame are picked by the foundation’s board of electors, comprising dramatic arts educators and artistic directors from universities and theaters. The actors being inducted during the 2015 Hall of Fame TV special and the hosts and guest presenters will be announced at a later date.
