Visual Web Designer

The HIV Justice Network is looking for a freelance creative visual designer who understands the technical requirements of web and UX design. Initially this will be to work on a specific project – the redesign of an existing website, hivtravel.org – but this may lead to other work in the future, especially if you are also able to undertake other kinds of graphic design, including for print (pdf).

This initial website project needs to be undertaken in August and September. 

You will be responsible for creating the visual and user interface for the website to work on various screen sizes and operating systems. 

You will:

  • Advise on best practice UI / UX design approaches.
  • Create layouts and graphics for the website working to brand guidelines provided by the Art Director (the Video and Visuals consultant).
  • Understand and design to the functionality available within modern browsers, ensuring your designs work across multiple devices.
  • Create other assets as required for marketing materials.
  • Ensure that your designs meet best practice web accessibility standards
  • Work with our Back and Front End developers to provide them with the assets they require.

We want to hear about:

  • Your experience in designing websites for multiple clients and devices.
  • Your experience in working with web design and UX packages (for example, Figma, Adobe XD). 
  • Your experience of being self-sufficient and working with a remote team.
  • Your experience of having to have good attention to detail, to meeting deadlines, and managing your own time.
