DTCP eases norms for regularisation of illegal colonies

The Haryana Department of Town and Country Planning has extended the submission date for illegal colonies' regularisation applications till July 14. The department has also reduced regularisation fees and eased norms to encourage more colonies to apply. The Haryana Management of Civic Amenities and Infrastructure Deficient Areas Outside Municipal Area (Special Provisions) Act, 2021, will regularise the development of these colonies. The policy under this act was notified on July 19 last year.

DC orders probe into uncovered manholes after cabbie’s death

A panel has been formed by the district administration in coordination with the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram to investigate the death of a cab driver who fell into an open manhole. The victim was reported missing on 14 April and his body was found after seven days. The manhole had been lying open for many days. Police said they had been unable to determine when the accident had occurred as there were no CCTV cameras at the spot. The civic agency is responsible for ensuring that all manholes are covered. Compensation is to be paid to the victim?s family.

Blueprint for smart traffic arrangement in Ggm soon, says minister Vij

Haryana's home minister has announced plans to create a digital traffic monitoring system in Gurugram district, in a bid to streamline the traffic system and educate drivers on traffic laws. The system is set to reduce pressure on police forces and improve public awareness of traffic rules. The minister also discussed the rise in cyber crimes, such as hacking bank accounts, and announced plans to train police personnel in combating such crimes.

Excise dept seeks police help to crack down on illegal pubs

Gurugram's excise department has requested assistance from the local police force in its efforts to close down illegal pubs, bars and restaurants operating without a valid licence. Searches were carried out on 10 such establishments on Wednesday evening, with liquor stocks, inspection books, liquor storage rooms and licences checked. The department has formed special teams to carry out further searches on Thursday night, particularly at establishments operating until morning, to ensure they possess the required additional liquor licence to stay open late.

Sanitation workers protest in Gurugram, demand regularisation of jobs

Sanitation workers hired by Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) have held a protest demanding regularisation of existing employees and hiring of more workers. The workers threatened to stop cleaning the city if their demands are not met within a week. They are also asking for the abolition of the contractual labour system, implementation of equal pay and restoration of the old pension scheme. MCG officials say the city has 3,137 sanctioned posts and all of them are currently filled, but the workers contend that there is a requirement of around 6,250 sanitation workers given the city?s population of over a million.

Haryana excise dept to crack down on liquor licence menace

Haryana's excise department is considering a crackdown on clubs, pubs, restaurants and other establishments operating without a liquor licence. Officials have identified around 20 facilities in Gurugram's Sector 29, Golf Course Extension Road and Golf Course Road that are operating without a licence for extended hours. To obtain a liquor licence, an establishment owner must apply for L4 and L5 licences. If the owner plans to keep the pub or bar open until 2am, an annual fee of INR20 lakh ($27,000) is required. For those that want to stay open until 8am, an additional INR18 lakh is required.
