Trask 3-star DE Sherrod Henderson commits to Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech added a commitment from southeastern North Carolina on June 30.

Edge rusher Sherrod Henderson of Heide Trask High School announced his pledge to the Hokies on his X account.

Henderson is considered a 3-star prospect by 247Sports and Rivals. He is ranked as high as the No. 13 class of 2025 prospect in North Carolina (by Rivals) and as low as the No. 29 rising senior in N.C. He has no star designation or ranking by On3 or ESPN.

Over his recruitment, Henderson received upwards of 25 Division I offers. His entire collection of offers were from Old Dominion, Liberty, Virginia Tech, Troy, Elon, Cornell, Wofford, Charleston Southern, East Carolina, Gardner-Webb, South Florida, Campbell, NC Central, Pitt, Air Force, Western Michigan, Bryant, James Madison, Duke, Virginia, West Virginia, Michigan State, Richmond, UConn, and Georgia State.

Henderson is listed at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds with a wingspan of 80.3 inches. He holds a 3.4 GPA and has been clocked with a 4.57 in the 40-yard dash.

As a junior, Henderson rushed for 1,250 yards and 13 touchdowns on offense. Defensively, he recorded 75 tackles, 15 tackles for a loss, 12 sacks, and forced multiple turnovers.

The Titans finished the 2023 season with an overall record of 6-5. Trask made it to the N.C. High School Athletic Association's 2A East playoffs but lost in the first round on the road at Cummings.
