William Evans is Division Leader, Physics Division in the Physical and Life Sciences Directorate at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

His research interests include Experimental Physics, Physics at High Pressures, Material Properties (EOS, Phase Transitions, Transition Kinetics & Metastability), Novel Materials Synthesis and Characterization, IR, Visible and Raman Spectroscopies, X-Ray Scattering (Diffraction & Spectroscopy), Cryogenics, Physics of Hydrogen at High Pressures.

William attended California Institute of Technology for his B.Sc. with Honors in Physics and then Harvard University for a S.M. in Applied Physics. He then received his Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Harvard University where he worked with Prof. I.F. Silvera.
