On Saturday OT's travelled to Andover in the Southern Premier League Division 1.

OT'S captain Rob Newman won the toss and opted to bat first.

Regular OT's openers Charlie King and Joe Vaughan were watchful against the Andover opening bowlers Babu Veettil and Aidan Jansen until Vaughan was out for 12 edging an away swinger from Veettil to John Nyumbu in the slips.

Rob Newman was dismissed for a duck in the same over, inside edging the ball on to his stumps. When King and Harry Tulk soon followed, OT's found themselves 38 for 4.

Alex Bampton also made a start but fell to a catch by Will Berrill for 13 off the bowling of Ollie Williams. Chris Wood and Elliot Ponting batted sensibly in adding a half century partnership before Ponting was clean bowled by James Knight for 22.

Hakim Peruzi and Wood took the score to 139 before Jansen picked up the key wicket of Wood for 45 from 58 balls including five fours. Peruzi with 16 and Alex Mills with a quick fire 21 helped boost the total to 173 all out. Veettil and Williams each picked up three wickets.

Andover also found batting tricky and we're soon 25 for 3, with Berrill, Sanjeet Garood and Ollie Williams all back in the pavilion. A 48 run partnership between Harri Williams and Brandon Smith put Andover back in the ascendency until Vaughan dismissed both batsmen in quick succession.

Wood also picked up three wickets from his 10 overs and at 127 for 7 OT's were slight favourites. A counter attack by Veettil put the game back in the balance, but the wickets of Nyumbu and Knight saw Andover fall to 169 for 9. Two more fours from Veettil at the start of the 42nd over saw Andover to a one wicket victory. Veettil finishing 41 not out with three fours and two sixes from just 23 deliveries. Vaughan (10-1-27-2) and Wood (10-0-42-3) were the pick of the bowlers. It was the second consecutive narrow defeat for OT's and next up are league leaders Portsmouth at the Bypass Ground.
