Just weeks after the Annual Primary Schools Gala an additional 49 swimmers from local primary schools came to Winchester Sport and Leisure Park for the Winchester City Swimming Club Inclusive Gala.

Children from Harestock, Kings Worthy, Otterbourne, Owlesbury, Stanmore, Weeke and Winnall schools took part in individual and relay races, with a focus on having fun in the water.
The swimmers were supported in the water by the clubs’ competitive swimmers, who then demonstrated their own racing skills cheered on by the children.

Grant Robins, CEO, said “It is great to see a record number of children at this event. We’ve seen some impressive swimming, and the children have demonstrated incredible endurance and stamina. It’s very obvious that the swimmers have enjoyed the event with some describing it as ‘the best day ever’! In addition, the support shown by our incredible volunteers and older swimmers to help make this event such a success is so very humbling.”

Event organiser Liz Hatfield said “As a club we come together to do many great things - but the enjoyment and achievements of the children puts this gala at the top of my personal list of favourites.”

The morning ended with a presentation of medals and certificates by The Mayor of Winchester, Russell Gordon-Smith, who came to support the event. WCPSC thank sponsors Winchester Round Table, club volunteers and in particular the schools and children for making the morning such a success.
