HAMBLEDON are out of the Voneus Village Cup after being on the receiving end of a 262-run blast from Wiltshire-based West of England Premier League side Goatacre at Ridge Meadow.

James Restell (3-38) struck two early blows for Hambledon, whose bowlers were put to the sword by Ed Wilkins (108) and Ross Dixie (105) in a near 200-run third wicket partnership.

The pair struck nine sixes (mainly out of the ground) and 19 fours as big hitting Goatacre posted 262-6 before dismissing Hambledon for 167 to win by 95 runs.

Openers George Marshall (36) and Chris Pratt (33) provided a promising 63-run start, but facing such an overwhelming target, the Hampshire side lost regular wickets thereafter, with spinner Jidesh Aruva (4-22) and Lewis Keenan (3-33) making inroads. Spencer LeClercq made 27 not out.
