It was an all-Romsey final in the under 10 age group at the Southbrook Youth FC tournament at Wide Lane last Sunday.

Both the Pumas and the Tigers had topped their respective groups and then went through their quarter- and semi-finals to meet each other to battle it out for the cup.

The higher league Pumas started the short match strongly and were awarded a free kick within the first minute. A shot then went wide, before the next from Harvey found the back of the net. Despite this early setback, the Tigers continued to battle and managed to have some play in the other half, before the ball made its way back to the other end for another wide shot from the Pumas. It was then the Tigers' turn for a free kick, which was headed away for a corner that couldn't be converted as Adam's shot went wide.

The Pumas continued to dominate the game, with shots that both hit the bar and sailed over, but the Tigers kept going and had their own shot at goal from Harry that again went wide. In the final minute, Tigers' keeper Inez made a save to keep the scoreline at a respectable 1-0 at the final whistle.

It was fantastic to see Romsey Town Youth FC represent the top two teams out of 24 teams in the age group. Both teams played the game in the right spirit with great sportsmanship and support for each other, and happily cheered for each other during the cup presentation.
