Here's a scene that could have been replicated 50 years or more ago in a Deanery-Old Tauntonians derby at either Northlands Road or the Southampton Sports Centre.

Half a century ago that would have been OTs off-spin all-rounder Derek Tulk facing Deanery fast bowler Dave Hibberd.

Fast forward the tape from circa 1974 to the Romsey Sports Centre June 2024 when the grandchildren of two of Southampton's top cricketers played on opposite sides - 14 year old Ollie Hibberd (son of James) bowling his spin for Calmore Sports against OTs & Romsey run gun Harry Tulk.

Ollie went wicketless but turned in a tidy 0-41 return off ten overs, took a catch and then hit five not out in a 23-run last wicket stand with Mark Lavelle as Calmore tried in vain to stave off a 91-run defeat. Tulk made 69 and extended his season's SPL run tally to 281.
