HALFORDS Winchester is today closing its doors to customers.

The shop, which sells bikes and car accessories, has been open for over two decades.

The Chronicle went along to talk to customers on the store's last day of business – Friday, July 5.

"They've taken the discounts off and there's nothing in there anyway," said Harry Carter, 28, who had been hoping to pick up a last-minute bargain.

"We were just saying that you come to assume it's just there. You think you can just pop in but we can't any more."

The nationwide chain announced the closure of its Winchester branch in early June.

A spokesperson for Halfords said: “We’d like to thank all our customers for their support of the Winchester store and look forward to welcoming them at our Halfords Eastleigh, Halfords Andover, and Halfords Basingstoke all located within a 20-minute drive.”
