MORE than 300 people recently attended a Hampshire rugby club's beer festival.

Romsey Rugby Club's event, held on June 21-22, was attended by Mayor of Romsey John Parker.

Organisers thanked the legions of volunteers who made it happen and the event's sponsors Pure Human Resources and Anchor Maintenance.

Steph Fosh, managing director of Pure Human Resources, said: “As a local business, the opportunity to support such a great community event was too good to pass up. We had a great time and were delighted to see how many people came along. We look forward to working with Romsey Rugby Club long into the future.”

Ian Paxton, managing director of Anchor Maintenance and the Cocky Anchor, said: “We were delighted to be part of this excellent event and partner with the Cocky Anchor’s favourite breweries in Worcester, where our other pub is located, alongside some more local brews. The free Cocky-to-Cocky shuttle bus on the day was a massive success and we will look to keep this available for all events and matchdays in 2024-25.”

Tristan Pattison, chairman of Romsey Rugby Club, added: “Welcoming such a wide group from the local community was a great way to really put Romsey Rugby Club on the map. So many of the new faces told us what a great time they had, and how they’re looking forward to coming to next year’s Beer Festival and our other great events. I think this event will get bigger and bigger, and I can’t wait until next year.”

The culinary delights of the evening were crafted by TWJ Catering, who treated attendees to some of the best beer festival food ever witnessed in an SO51 postcode.

Highlights of the evening included music from DJ Howard Monk, New Forest band The Trappists, and soloist and club favourite Austyn Brown.
