AROUND 70 people attended a garden party to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Romsey and District Society.
The event at King John’s House attracted people involved in the society throughout the 50 years, having taken part in the very first meeting in June 1974.
The Romsey and District Society, since it was set up, has sought to influence the way in which Romsey and the surrounding area develops to protect the environment and benefit the local community.

The party marked the beginning of a series of events to celebrate the anniversary. It coincided with the opening of an exhibition in the museum at King John’s House telling the story of how the society began and illustrating some of its achievements over the past 50 years.
The exhibition will continue during the rest of June, July and August. There will also be an illustrated talk on July 3 at King John's House about the role of the society in the development of Romsey.
