LANGFORD Derek It is with great sadness that we must announce the death of Derek Langford on 1st June 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Derek was a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers for over 50 years. He had a distinguished career as Engineering Manager responsible for the design of oil and gas production platforms in the North Sea, Canada and the Far East. On retirement in 2013, he and his wife Genevieve came to live in Romsey and Derek quickly immersed himself into community affairs. He was on the planning committee of Romsey and District Society; the executive of Bramshaw Scouts; organised the La Ronde open garden scheme and was chairman of Mill Lane Neighbourhood Watch. He sang baritone with Romsey Male Voice Choir. Derek leaves behind his cherished wife Genevieve, daughter Anouchka, son Oliver and his most beloved grandchildren Caspar and Giselle. Derek was buried on Friday 14th June in Woodley Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held in Romsey Abbey on Friday 5th July at 1.30pm and all are welcome to attend.
