Wales Bonner's latest Adidas drop might be the best

Grace Wales Bonner is a force to be reckoned with. After dropping a Jamaican football kit collection earlier this year through her eponymous label, it looks like the London-born fashion designer will be reuniting with Adidas very, very soon, as we take a sneak peek at the upcoming Wales Bonner x Adidas FW23 drop.

Wales Bonner x Adidas Samba ‘Silver’

Revisiting the ever-popular Samba as well as the fan-favourite SL72 Knit, both of these models previously featured in the power duo's Fall/Winter 2020 and Spring/Summer 2022 releases. For this particular version, the Samba is crafted from leather and covered in a reflective gunmetal finish. Intricate stitching decorates the Three Stripe branding across the sides, as well as the heel badge around the back. The oversized tongue references retro footy boots, and all of this sits on top of an earthy brown rubber midsole which is giving us some very vintage vibes.

The SL72 Knit, on the other hand, comes in two colour combos. Working on top of a mesh base, it's overlaid by buttery suede panels throughout for an extra premium touch. While the brown pair opts for burnt orange accenting, the green pair is contrasted with bold yellow tones instead, perhaps as a nod to Wales Bonner's Caribbean heritage.

Old school adi sneakers are currently having a serious moment. Silhouettes like the Campus, Gazelle, and of course, the Samba, are slowly but surely making their way to collections everywhere (we're looking at you, Brad Pitt), and it doesn't look like the hype train is about to stop anytime soon.

Not much else is known about the Wales Bonner x Adidas FW23 collection at this moment in time, but from what we've seen so far, these might just be some of our fave trainers of 2023. Even more colourways are expected to be announced pretty soon, so stay tuned, sneakerheads.
